Are Talk Shows Going to Far for Ratings and Viewers?

Randy Jones
It seems now more than ever that just about any television channel you tune to has a talk show which is picking apart news events or politicians in their own little fashion. What happens when the tough acting show hosts cross the lines in interviews trying to play judge and jury to the very people who have agreed to be interviewed?

One particular Host may be awaiting to find out. According to an article released by Associated Press on MSN's Wonder Wall, talk show host Nancy Grace could possibly be in some hot water after a Wrongful Death Suit was filed by the family of Melinda Duckett a Florida mother who Grace interviewed in 2006. According to the family they are holding Grace accountable for the suicide death of the 21 year old Florida mother who Grace accused of hiding something from evidence in the disappearance of her son Trenton in 2006.

According to the report Melinda Dukett shot herself the day that the taped broadcast was to be released.
Could this case possibly set precedence toward the future of interviewing and just how far talk show hosts can go to get ratings and viewers. Nancy Grace is just one of hundreds of talk show hosts either by television or radio who can get hard nosed while either reporting news events or conducting interviews. While many show hosts seem genuinely sincere concerning the stories they are unfolding or covering but could they be taking things to far to try and play judge and jury to their guest?

If the court finds Grace a contributing factor or the main factor in the suicide of Melinda Puckett this could have a re-approach to freedom of the press with regard to conducting interviews as a form of public interrogation.
