Are You Tired of Dipping with the Same Old Ranch Dressing?

Nanette Haz
While attending a holiday party, I had the usual vegetable platter, but with a new dip. The dip was really tangy, and had a refreshing southwestern zip. I went back for seconds, and it was gone. My girlfriend told me the secret after the party, and showed me the package. It was Hidden Valley Ranch Fiesta Ranch Dip Mix.

The package is a small foil sealed dry mix; it is about 5 inches long and 4 inches wide. The picture on the front is different than the regular Ranch flavor. It has a platter with multicolored nacho chips instead of the regular ridged potato chips. The dip is $1.50 for one 1 oz package.

Stir one package into a 16 oz package of sour cream, and let sit for at least 1 hour before serving. If you are unsure of how much seasoning you would personally like, you can always put about 3/4 of the seasoning packet in and taste, some of my friends insist that putting the whole package in will make it too salty. Feel free to do your own adjustments.

Do not use low fat, or fat free sour cream, for the maximum kick use regular sour cream. No fat sour cream makes the dip taste a bit bland, and is not creamy as using regular sour cream.

Tasty Tested Meal Ideas

This great dip has become a staple at many potluck functions I attend, and of course at my own home parties. During meal times, my children will eat baked potatoes, chili, radishes, cucumbers, almost any raw vegetable with fiesta ranch dip. It is also makes a great filling with burritos, tacos, fajitas, and of course any type of chip. Gyros, cold pasta salads, wrap style cold sandwiches on any type of flat bread, cut up and served as appetizers. It makes a great dip on the side of fried fish, I have tried talapia, and catfish, battered with seasoned cornmeal mix. Also deep fried dill pickle's, battered with half flour and half cornmeal mix.

During breakfast, fiesta ranch is the perfect topping over a southwestern style omelet with onions, bell pepper, and sausage crumbles. If you prefer to bake a quiche, add your favorite vegetables, meats, cheese, and add a dollop of fiesta ranch on top of each slice.

The only thing I worry about is... will it be sold out? The only place in my town that carries fiesta ranch dip is Wal-Mart. It is on the salad dressing aisle. You have to look on the very top shelf, of the Hidden Valley Ranch Section.

My overall opinion is that that I love the versatility and fresh creamy taste of Hidden Valley Ranch Fiesta Ranch dip.
