Have you ever wondered why you like to cook or bake? Maybe you do it out of necessity? Perhaps you were taught by a Mother, Father or a Grandparent? Have you ever considered that maybe it's a gift from God? God can use you to touch other's lives with your gift of cooking, baking and preparing food. If you like to cook or bake or even come up with your own recipes, then that is a creative gift from God.
How many people do you know that don't like to cook or bake or even make dinner? There is a dread in their voice and they almost pass out when they know that they will be in charge of preparing a Thanksgiving dinner? Their knees have fellowship one with another when the word "dinner party" is mentioned?
Some people just have a natural gift to make something out of nothing. Have you ever gone to your pantry and just started pulling stuff off the shelf. You see a box of pasta, and a can of mushrooms and you know you've got frozen pieces of cut up chicken and before you know it your dreaming up dinner for that night? I had a friend tell me once that she couldn't make a sandwich like I did. I made her a simple roast beef sandwich and you would of thought I gave her a surf and turf meal. She asked me all the ingredients, which were simple, she went home and did it the same way. She said it just didn't taste like yours. Go figure?
God makes each one of us different. We have unique personalities, giftings and talents. God gives us those giftings and talents so that we can reach out to others and share the love of Christ through those gifts. So the next time that you mix up a batch of cookies, or bake a loaf of bread for someone, realize that you have a gift from God and God wants to use you touch other's lives with your gift.
Whatever your gifts and talents are you can let God use them to speak to others about Him. Are you using your gifts and talents to change peoples lives for eternity? What are you good at? Sometimes we look at what we have in our hands and think, it seems so little or insignificant. Let him take your little and multiply it among those who need to know him.
