Just how many times can the earth be invaded before movie viewers simply don't care anymore? "The Darkest Hour" certainly hopes they can take one more for the team. How did Tennessee viewers respond to this alien thriller set in Moscow?
"Alien movies always perplex me. They always look either tacky or like reject humans. I think there's theoretically an infinite number of possibilities for how so-called 'aliens' could look. Why do they always cop out and make them humanoid? Anyway, a decent flick here. Nothing special. It follows the beaten path." -- Tanya Lang, 24, Fraser
"The Moscow setting made for a surprisingly chilling setup. I found myself more than a little freaked out as I followed along the survivors. Good work there." -- Carol Wilkson, 34, Southaven
"I'd almost call this B-movie quality. The acting is cheesy and exaggerated while the aliens came across as lazy. I've seen better CGI on Burger King commercials. Boo. Raise the bar a little, science fiction Hollywood!" -- Chelsea Nowak, 36, Germantown
"The 3D was impressive. The plot, not so much. I'm pretty bored with aliens at this point. Now if they'd included some cowboys, maybe I'd be more interested. I happen to have loved 'Cowboys & Aliens.' They should have followed that format." -- Jerry Manchester, 28, Memphis
"You really end up caring about a few of survivors -- big plus in this sort of film. I would have enjoyed the experience more if it wasn't so by the book in terms of sci-fi alien invasion. I'm a big fan of innovation, and 'Darkest Hour' does nothing different to enhance the genre." -- Ellen Harris, 34, Jackson
"Alien invasion. Not really the holiday spirit, huh? Good effort, though. They could have done a better job innovating a dead genre, though. What's up with the characters staring blankly into the distance while giving their lines? Weird." -- Casey Ridge, 24, Memphis
"I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but the 3D really shook me up. It was excellent. Too bad the characters were all cardboard cut-outs. I would have suggested a different city too. I don't know where Moscow is. Or is it a country? Whatever. Meh film is meh." -- Gavin Cox, 39, Collierville
