Are We Approaching the End of the World?

Pat Lunsford
Speculating on the end of the world seems to have become an obsession for some people. For decades people have been diligently searching for clues and signs associated with the end of the world, latter days, and End Times.

The reason for this is mostly due to world events such as war, global warming, failing economy, and our rapidly changing climate. However, the most popular end of the world scare today is the situation associated with December 21, 2012.

According to a number of scientists, the sun and planets are lining up with the center of the Milky Way, which could cause catastrophic climate changes. This galactic alignment is supposed to be complete by the year 2012.

Some groups believe it will be a spiritual awakening. Many Christians believe these planetary events are associated with the great tribulation and the second coming of Jesus Christ. Some believe it will actually be the literal end of the world. Then there are those who think it's all a bunch of nonsense.

Google the date, December 21, 2012 and you'll find page after page of information concerning these things. However, when it comes to the end of the world, Jesus Christ said we wouldn't know the hour, but we would recognize the season. Searching for information is good because even chance favors the prepared mind, but your relationship with God is more important than anything.

It's no wonder that people are anxious about the things that are happening around the world. Anyone who has been paying any kind of attention at all knows that our climate is acting strangely and the economy seems to be going to hell in a hand basket.

There are alarmists who get excited about things such as these and spread panic. Then there are the capitalists who try to sell us information along with supplies and they are very good at convincing us that we must have these things.

The situation developing in the universe is frightening. Experts don't really know what is going to happen, if anything at all, as this planetary alignment only occurs every 26,000 years or so. There is simply not enough information to make any kind of precise prediction.

Keep in mind that if all the things happen that these dooms dayers claim, nobody would survive no matter how well they prepare. No one could physically survive the kind of events they are predicting. When it comes to End Times events there is only one safe place and that's Jesus Christ our creator. "...not a hair on your head will perish." (Luke 21:18)

Jesus talked a lot about the end of the world and he told us what would take place prior to his return. All one has to do is watch the news because the End Time prophecies predicted in the bible are unfolding daily right before our eyes.

There are so many dooms day and conspiracy theories circulating today that it's difficult to keep up. The internet is full of them such as, NWO, Fema, Chemtrails, UFO takeover just to name a few!

Jesus told the disciples what would take place as the end of the world approached.

"And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars but the end; is not yet and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold."

"And there shall be signs; in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth."

When the time comes, Jesus will come like a thief in the night and take those who belong to him out of the world in what is commonly called the rapture.

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." (John 14)

"Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come." (Matt 24:40-42)

However, no matter what happens in this life, knowing Jesus isn't nearly as important as him knowing you.

"Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity." (Luke 13:26-27)

"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39) "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)

The bible was written over a period of about 1500 years by 40 different authors over three different continents and yet everything fits together perfectly. The prophecies alone, which were fulfilled to the letter, are more than enough to validate its authenticity.

The return of Jesus Christ and the end of the world as we know it is not speculation- it is an absolute fact. No one knows the exact date and time it's going to happen but it WILL happen. Those who belong to the King will escape the things which are sure to come upon the whole world. It may not happen in our lifetime but what about our children? Do they know the Lord of the universe?

"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."

Thanks for sharing. I can't wait until Jesus comes back for us. There is nothing to look forward to on this earth anymore. Things are only getting worse and worse each day.
