Are We Being Led by a Bunch of Graceless, Lying Streetside Rowdies?
There is a Limit to Debasing Our Own Motherland!
First of all let me say I am not African American nor did I vote for Obama or McCain. But I am as concerned as everybody else for the safety of our Presidents - be it the incumbent or the elect.
But it is highly shameful that the incumbent was least concerned about the elect's safety.
Agreed I should not expect such graces from a guy who reduced the venerated chair occupied by stalwarts like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln into that of a lowly cobbler at whom anybody can throw their shoes.
Still, I am surprised that the announcement of the Blair House being not available until 15th came from Laura Bush's spokesperson.
As a taxpayer, I wonder who is this spokesperson to refuse the request of the President-elect?
Who gave the spokesperson the extra-constitutional power to insult the US Presidency?
And now they say "they are ready for the Obamas whenever they choose to come, yet they have no idea when that will be. They also confirm that there are no other foreign dignitaries scheduled to stay at the Blair House for the duration of the Bush administration."
That proves that whatever they said before about non-availability and traditions is an abject bloody lie.
I would request President Obama to snub such streetside rowdyism by staying at Hay-Adams until inauguration and never enter Blair House. Posterity also should know about such shameful happenings in our history so that they will be vigilant against such crooks in future.
There is a limit to debasing USA and its Presidency by a bunch of inveterate "liars" who think they are custodians of a flea-infested kennel and not the residence of the World's most powerful Head of State.
If they made the Executive Mansion fit only for cobblers and shoemakers, they have only themselves to blame. If they don't show respect to own Presidency, how can they expect the world to do the same?

Post a CommentFirst, thanks Maricia for reading the article and the feedback. Great that Obama ignored all this. For me, if they stuck to their original version, I would not have felt deceived. But they were caught lying and had to change their story after States Department exposed them by declaring that the suites are vacant. Anyway, thanks and regards to you.
Hello, I enjoyed your article about Blair House. Even though I voted for the newly elected president this is not a snub to him. Blair House does not have to be ready for him until he officially takes office. If you go back through history, you will find that some presidents, the latest being Bill Clinton could not stay at Blair House because it was booked. Most outgoing presidents use it for such things as parties, quarters for people who help with the transition and much more. In all fairness George Bush still has the presidential power to use Blair House.
