Are We Killing Our Own Planet?

Sharon Morris
The many effects of Global Warming have been going on for quite some time. I think either most of us are in denial or just don't think it is important enough to do something about it. It is important enough to do something about. If we don't do our share of stopping Global Warming now there won't be an Earth for much longer. We need to do something now to ensure our children's futures. It is a scary thing to think about but it is real and if you really look around you will see just how dangerous it is becoming.

I watched a special on T.V about Global Warming and honestly until I watched it I didn't realize how bad it really was. It really scares me to think that one day soon the Earth and every living thing on it is going to melt into non existence. I don't know about you but I would like to think that my children are going to have a nice future and be able to live full lives. That's why we all need to do our share of preventing this from happening to our home.

Things we can all do are recycle when you can and as much as you can, walk more when and if possible because not only will you be contributing to your own health but to the future of our planet as well. We need to put in as much effort as possible because if we don't try to save the Earth, who will? Al Gore says if we don't do what we can now, by 2010 we will be paying the consequences of our own actions against our home. I just think if people would wake up and realize what is happening around us then maybe we can get more done to ensure our futures as well as the futures of our children.

During the beginning of winter this year I was really afraid by the temperature change. It was supposed to be cold and instead it was in between the 50's and 60's. Everyone around me was so happy that it was warm but it was the middle of December and it was supposed to be cold. Don't get me wrong I love the warm weather and would rather have warm weather all the time but not when it is a major sign of Global Warming. This truly frightens me because I would like to live a ripe old age and possibly die in my sleep. I don't want to burn up because the Earth's temperature is too hot for anything alive to handle. When I was watching the T.V special about this phenomenon they said on there that even if we were to hide in our basements we still won't survive. That is so scary.

Please do what you can to keep our planet alive. I don't care if it's just a little recycling or a walk to work or school as long as you are making an effort. Please take this seriously and really consider that what is happening around us is a very real and serious issue.

You are absolutely right, and good for you! Every little effort each of us makes helps! Recycle, walk or bicycle instead of driving, DON'T DRINK BOTTLED WATER use a pitcher with a filter instead and have one reusable bottle instead of hundreds of throwaways every year. Every little bit counts, and even if we don't save the planet, at least we will know we tried!

I absolutely agree. We all should do our part to stop global warming. It really does scare me.

Global warming is definitely something we should all care about. If we as individuals, families, communities and nations don't do our part then we can expect to pay a price for it.
