The crowd is rushing in.
What am I going to say?
Will they listen to me anyway?
I leave my office with a nervous feeling.
My assistants follow, my head is spinning.
I'm a little bit scared.
Are we prepared?
We are almost to the door.
Are they ready to soar?
Are they ready to play the game?
I bet our fans are wondering the same?
For weeks we have practiced for tonight.
I wish I knew if I have done everything right.
Are we prepared?
I'm a little scared.
We enter the locker room.
The players take their seats.
In the front of the room I take my chair.
Twenty-Four eyes look at me with a spirited stare.
I gather my nerves and begin to speak.
My hands are shaking and my legs are weak.
I am very glad that I am sitting down,
If I was standing I know I would hit the ground.
The players seem focused.
This feels like my first pre-game.
I remind the guys of all their hard work.
I hope they realize why I acted like a jerk.
The coaches and I only want them to win.
But now it is really up to them.
There is a short knock on the door.
Finally it is our time to take the floor.
The players jump to their feet.
The assistants gather around to complete the huddle.
We do our chant, and then they get in line.
Everybody knows its just about game time.
The roar of the crowd feels the gym.
The players are excited because they realize it's for them.
The referee throws the ball toward the rafters.
The game has begun and nothing else matters.
The game start outs slow.
Both teams appear to be a little unsure.
Three times in a row we turn the ball over.
I really wish we could start this game over.
Early in the second quarter or offense gets hot.
Look out here we come ready or not.
We go into halftime with a small lead.
Things are clicking and we are picking up speed.
We start the second half running and gunning.
I can only hope that we do not run out of gas.
The opposing coach is loosing his poise.
My coaches and I are very proud of our boys.
The game comes to an end and I have a huge grin.
Our boys played well and got the win.
Our next game is Tuesday and I am scared.
I hope we have enough time to get prepared.
