Are Wedding Bells in the Near Future for Rock of Love Bret Michaels After His Near Death Experience?

Will Bret and Kristi Mend Their Relationship with the New VH1 Series Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It

Since his dramatic medical complications, Bret Michaels has recently reconciled with Krisit Gibson, the mother of his two children Raine and Georgia. In an interview on May 5, 2010, Brett said, "As painful as this experience has been, I was given a second chance, right? I don't want to sit around every night worrying this is going to happen again. What I want to do is make a positive bucket list and say, 'I'm just gonna go for it.' There's just so much more I want to do and experience." When he was asked about getting married, he replied that getting married was something he hadn't done before and added, "Kristi's such a great person. We'll see if that happens. But yes, that may be one of the big things on the list. My first goal is to get back 100 per cent. I want to continue to rock the world, and I want to continue to love my family and be a good father."

Brett showed the world he was serious about being a good father in his first episode of Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It, the new VH1 reality series which aired for the first time on Memorial Day, (May 31, 2010). In the episode, Brett showed his real family side, cooking breakfast with his youngest daughter Georgia and doing homework with his older daughter Raine while their mother Kristi had a "girls day out." The cameras followed Krisit to a luncheon with one of her girlfriends where she admitted she would love to get back together with Bret and would talk to him about it that night possibly giving him an "ultimatum."

Unfortunately for her, towards the end of the episode, Bret had to rush off to New York a day earlier than expected and her conversation was put on hold. Makes you wonder if the producers didn't give him a heads up about the conversation that was going to take place. Bret has had a real issue with commitment in relationships in the past and it didn't seem to be much different on this episode.

Despite his announcement about having to depart early, Kristi tried to push the conversation as Bret was getting ready to leave, probably not the best time to start the conversation. Kristi said "I want us to work" and confessed she was "tired of being alone" but Bret's response was less than welcoming. He avoided the question by telling her "I don't want to hurt you. I don't want to hurt the kids" and gave her a friendly hug. He addressed the cameras after the conversation saying, "This whole thing just makes it tough. The reality of me being a rockstar is I need to be out on the road. I'm just not sure I can be that to her right now."

The show was filmed in the Spring of 2010 prior to his near death experience. Things may have changed in their relationship since his medical drama, but we may need to wait until the Fall of 2010 to find out if a wedding is in their future. Bret is currently on his summer tour and the show will be filming his life at home when he is not on the road. It is obvious that Bret cares very much for Kristi and they seem to have a great parental relationship, but the reality show did not serve as a platform to display any passion between the two that went any further than a mutual friendship. In the beginning of the episode Bret was filmed sleeping on the couch after getting home from a long trip which makes you believe he wasn't interested in sharing a bedroom with her at this point.

However, just before the credits rolled on the first show Bret came home a second time and surprised his family. He brought Kristi a dozen red roses and said "This is the right thing to do. This is the Brett Michaels that needs to step up and make much more of an effort to be with my kids and my family and see if I can make this whole thing work." This statement sets the foreshadowing for the reality show which appears to be leaning toward a new beginning for their relationship. If nothing else, the reality show will bring Bret home more and give them the opportunity to grow closer, something Krisit obviously wants more than Bret. Rock of Love fans might be a little disappointed, but it is nice to see the softer side of the 80's rocker who obviously has a lot more to offer than Rock and Roll and party drama.
