New Year's Day has come and gone, and once again many people have made New Year's resolutions. The question that comes now is whether you are actually sticking to your New Year's resolution? Did you actually keep up with any of them? Was it wasted energy, or did you actually make a difference in your life? That leads us to the final question, and that is are New Year's resolution good for your health? Here are the pros and cons of making New Year's resolutions as far as your health goes:

Pros

Taking time out of your busy life to reflect on your life is actually a good thing for your health. It gives you peace of mind to know that you can actually choose to change your life in a positive way. Hope is always a good thing for your mental health, and being positive doe's wonders for your well being. Being upbeat is good for your mental mood. If you have faith that you are changing for the better as a person, then you have something to look forward too. So making a New Year's resolution is actually good for you health in this aspect.

Also if you actually follow through on your New Year's resolution this is usually good for your health. Many people make really healthy choices for their New Year's resolutions. For example, many people chose to try to lose weight for their New Year's resolution. Losing weight is great for your health. This usually leads a person to eat healthier, and to exercise more. This is great for your body both mentally and physically.

Other people chose to quit bad habits in their lives. For example, many people choose to try to quit smoking. This is great for your health. Quitting smoking ups your chances of living longer. It also helps you to live a healthier life. Many people feel motivated to live better lives when they try to follow a New Year's resolution, and this is great for your health.

Cons

There are cons though to making New Year's resolutions for your health. For one many people who try to make resolutions get stressed out by trying to keep their New Year's resolutions. Their body gets tense, and their blood pressure goes up. They just feel stress and guilt over trying to meet their goals. These types of people should probably not make New Year's resolutions, especially if they are the types of people who never actually keep any of their New Year's resolutions. Stress is very unhealthy for your body, and it should be avoided at all costs.

Sometimes it is actually better for your mental health just to be happy with who you are. Although it is always good to take the time to reflect on your life, and to try to become a better person it may not be good to always put so much pressure on yourself. Take baby steps if you really want to change something about yourself. Do not just wait for a certain time of the calendar year to make changes. These are the pros and cons of making New Year's resolutions.
