Are YouTuber's Taking it Too Far?

Are People Becoming Overly Obsessed with Subscribers and Comments?

Youtube.com is no doubt one of the biggest and most frequently visited websites on the Internet. Why is it that youtube has so many frequent visitors, especially in comparison to other sites? Youtube traffic has recently even outdone some of the biggest sites in America, like Myspace and Facebook. Youtube is a social community that revolves around viewing, commenting on, and messaging producers of videos. The whole community is based around media, and almost everyone who watches videos on youtube has published at least one video over some amount of time.

So why is it that people are so addicted to youtube? Why do people constantly try to have the most subscribers, have the most views, or simply just be popular on this website? People like the competition on youtube, they're interested in gaining the popularity of their audience, which gives them a sense of approval for the videos. Anyone who puts a video on youtube is obviously going to be interested in making their video extremely popular, because it just makes things interesting.

But is it getting to be a bad thing that people are creating videos just to gain the popularity of their audience? More and more people are creating videos that involve violence, drugs, etc. just to gain the popularity of their audience, regardless of whether or not this is typical behavior for that producer, or whether or not they even like what they're doing in the video or approve of it.

Recently, a group of girls invited another girl over to their home, and beat the living crap out of her, then posted the video on youtube.com. Why is it that these girls had to show the rest of the world their horrible, intense crime? People are even posting theirselves engaging in illegal activities on youtube now, just to gain the popularity and attention of their audience. Please note that these girls were all caught and tried as adults in the court of law for their actions against the other girl.

There are many different things that you could post a video about on youtube. Let's try and keep them PG, however? Don't do things you wouldn't normally do, just because the video camera's on you and you're trying to gain the popularity of all of the world wide audience on youtube. Don't attempt to harm yourself or another, and do what's right! It's true that these videos may get a lot of views, but most of these viewers are only viewing your video in disgust; they think that what you're doing is sick and wrong!
