I guess its up to us to ask, why?
Why is it that the media that is supposed to tell us the news in our country as well as around the world, plays this constant war commercial to us as if describing why this war is good? Isn't it obvious that it hasn't brought us anything but division, financial instability, and a growing distrust of the government? I guess I thought it was, but I don't hear an outcry from the people. I certainly don't see anyone making a difference. For instance, Congress wanted a date set for the United States to pull out, and though the Senate allowed it to pass through, everyone knew Bush would veto it in the end. Why? Bush doesn't intend to leave Iraq.
Bush is throwing our money away, taking rights for himself and his cabinet, and making us feel afraid so that we almost ask him to take away ours. Occasionally, I hear a few disgruntled voices regarding his wiretaps and letter opening without a warrant statement, but shouldn't there be a fear of losing our freedom? Shouldn't people be worried that once he's done there won't be any freedoms left? Apparently all that matters is the fact that we aren't really touched by it right this second.
I guess gas prices increasing astronomically, does not count. I mean, they say even though gas prices are up, that the recession war has been waged and won. We are now financially safe again.
Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the fact that the gas prices are up affect other items? Such as, fruit trucks, or vehicle sales, carpet cleaning prices. Anything that takes gas to get is more expensive if gas prices are raised. For instance, I am not alone when I say my utilities are through the roof, not to mention my propane. I spent $700+ in one month in March for propane. That propane got me through two months. That is insane. Who the heck is buying that we aren't in a recession? Not me, and you shouldn't be either.
The housing market here in Colorado Springs has all but crashed. The military men that are overseas leave families behind, and those families are no longer taken care of by the military. A lot of "left behind" families are now losing their homes. They are forced to give them up and move into an apartment. We have a lot of military in Colorado Springs including Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever AFB, Air Force Academy, and Fort Carson. We see a lot of our men leaving their families behind, and what's more is we see the families fall apart because of it. It is amazing the load of bull we are fed about heroes this and heroes that. I am sorry but those poor men and women were fooled into thinking that they are fighting for some upstanding reason, when really the reason is oil. Their families suffer, they suffer, and this country suffers.
Some may say that its our duty to fight for our country. I say to heck with that. It is our duty to protect our rights and the rights of others. Whose rights are we protecting over there? Certainly not ours. Since the inception of this war we have lost more rights then we've gained. In fact, I do not hesitate to say that we have not gained even a single one. Shouldn't our country be what matters to us? We are not the protector of many, folks. We are the tyrant that everybody hates. They do not hate us because we are helping them, or even because we are doing what's best for them, although they don't know it. We do not live over there. We do not live through the horror they suffer through. Can you imagine living in a war filled world where men, women and children are lost every day. Can you imagine thanking the country that brought that destruction to us? I don't think so.
We just think we are wiser and can help them through something we don't and can't even understand. They hate us because we try to make everybody kowtow to us. They hate us because we start wars supposedly for another nations own benefit. We are wolves in sheep's clothing. Why do we, the average American, think we can fix things over there when we can't even fix things here?
We have no business being in a sovereign state. We have no business trusting in a president who has been proven himself to be a liar.
