Arguably the Worlds Best Potato Chip

David Field
The first thing you will want to do is get yourself some high quality peanut oil. Why? Peanut oil is a natural oil extracted from its parent, peanuts! It also has a high smoke point, which means that it can withstand a greater heat before it begins to smoke and set off every smoke detector in your house. And, according to Wikipedia, "Peanut oil is a monounsaturated fat. As such it may be substituted into a diet to reduce the negative health effects of eating trans fat and saturated fat." Plus it tastes good so you really can't go wrong here.

OK, with that being said let's move on to the most delicious home made potato chips you have ever had. P.S. The beginning there was the secret for world renowned potato chips.

Le Ol' Chippy Hors D'oeuvre

Things You Need

1) Peanut Oil. A lot of it for a lot of chips. I can't stress Peanut Oil enough.

2) A LARGE pot. Preferably a stainless steel one that heats up quickly.

3) Potatoes. Buy large ones so you have more chips to eat.

4) Salt

5) Garlic Powder

6) Paper Towels

How To Prepare

1) Peal potatoes completely so no skin is left. I don't care who says it is, the skin on potatoes does not taste good.

2) Slice potatoes to a thickness of around 1/8"

3) Add potatoes to oil. (NOTE: Do not add potatoes to pot before oil is hot. This will cause the oil to seep into the actual chip and cause them to be mushy and greasy. Also, be sure to not add to many chips in each batch; if there are too many in there, the oil may not completely surround the chip.)

4) Let potatoes cook for approximately 5-7 minutes each batch or until they are golden brown.

5) Promptly remove potatoes from oil and place on a large baking pan that is lined with good old fashioned paper towels. The paper towels will absorb all the remaining oil.

6) Immediately and evenly salt the chips to taste. Also, LIGHTLY sprinkle garlic powder over the top. Here, too much is too much. Don't overdo the garlic powder.

7) Enjoy.

The Final Thought

There is nothing fancy here about the recipe for home made potato chips. Actually, it is a fairly simple thing to do. I want my readers to experience something new, and I think the peanut oil and garlic powder is an awesome twist to the already popular food item that is potato chips.

I agree completely! Peanut oil makes the best danged chips EVER!

If you do not want to go to the trouble of making them yourself just get Mike-Sell's Potato chips out of Dayton Ohio. They use 100% peanut oil and the kettle chips will fit with how thick you cut yours.
