Arizona Cheerleaders Promote Breast Cancer Awareness Despite Opposition

When women have an idea, they run with it. Some even cheer it on. In this case, the cheerleading squad at Gilbert High School in Gilbert, Arizona is promoting breast cancer awareness.

During the school's October football games a team of 56 freshman, varsity and junior-varsity athletes planned to wear pink T-shirts sporting the message "Feel for Lumps. Save Your Bumps." in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

However, the school board and parents squashed the girls' dreams saying the message was too suggestive for the school atmosphere.

But a dozen cheerleaders have pressed on.

Despite local opposition to the campaign, these young entrepreneurs have begun selling the shirts via email. Although Breast Cancer Awareness month is wrapping up, the girls are still spreading the message. As of October 26, the athletes have scored $5,600 in T-shirt sales. The hard earned cash will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Now that's something to cheer about!
