What's so great about green tea?
I, like many others, have been pulled into the green tea craze. It has been advertised as the key ingredient in numerous products and is touted as having a wealth of benefits. It has been advertised as being contained in a range of products from nail growth products to diet supplements. However, the key benefit of drinking green tea is for the benefit of its powerful antioxidants. According to The Tea FAQ.com, green tea contains more EGCG than the other teas. The antioxidant EGCG "has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in the laboratory" and they credit EGCG with lowering cholesterol levels and helping to protect against autoimmune diseases. They also credit green tea consumption to burning calories and preventing tooth decay.
The Taste Test
Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng and Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus have very different tastes. Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng has a strong taste of honey. Although both products contain honey as an ingredient, the Arizona brand provides the drinker with a strong taste of honey, whereas the Lipton product's citrus infusion allows only for citrus to be the primary taste. Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus tastes very similar to a bottled mixed fruit drink.
There are two advantages that Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng has over Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus. The first advantage over Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus is that Arizona Diet Green Tea tastes excellent heated. Pouring a mug of Arizona Diet Green Tea and placing it into the microwave comes out with a cozy flavor. This comforting taste is due to the strong taste of honey that wafts out of the warm cup. Unfortunately, heating Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus did not produce as fabulous a result as the Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng did. Again, the lack of the taste of honey left the warm cup of Lipton Diet Green Tea with the taste of warm citrus, which I did not find comforting, as I feel a cup of green tea should. However, when served very cold, Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus was far more refreshing and better quenches thirst than Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng.
The second advantage that Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng has over Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus is in fact, ginseng. Ginseng has several benefits in itself. According to vitaminstuff.com, ginseng has a very of benefits for both the mind and body. They report that ginseng can boost mood, improve memory, and ease anxiety. It also boosts the immune system. The combination of green tea and ginseng is a no lose situation. It provides a myriad of benefits to its drinker.
Both Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng and Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus are great and tasty choices for anyone who wants to add a bit of health to their day. However, since both products are in the same price range, for the health buck, I have found that Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng is a better buy.
