Arizona Governor Jan Brewer Says No More Debates: Does Arizona Really Want a Governor that Won't Answer Questions?

Arizona, Do You Really Want a Governor That's Not Going to Do Another Debate Because She Doesn't Know How to Speak?

Cassandra James
While it was bad enough Arizona Governor Jan Brewer gave the most embarrassing performance ever in a televised debate this week, rather than laughing it off and vowing to do better, Governor Brewer says she's never going to do another debate. - she's just that bad at them.

On Wednesday evening, at the beginning of a televised debate in Arizona, Governor Jan Brewer seemed to have an Alzheimers' moment. When asked by the debate chair to introduce herself, she managed to stutter out that she was happy to be there and not much else.

For almost 20 seconds, with the camera still on her, Jan Brewer looked down at a piece of paper looking like she was trying to remember why she was there. When an opening statement in a debate needs to be as simple as "Hi, my name is Jan Brewer and I'm currently the Governor of Arizona. Thank you so much for having me here tonight. It's with great pleasure I look forward to talking about the issues and debating my opponent", my 12 year old students can do that, and English is a second language for them.

Now, Jan Brewer says, after her debate fiasco on Wednesday night she won't be doing any more debates. Why? Well, as she so succinctly put it, the only reason she participated in the debate in the first place was so she could lay her hands on more than $1.7 million of public-funding money to run her election campaign. I'm sure the good taxpayers of Arizona are happy their money is going to fund such a worthy cause.

Brewer has also intimated she doesn't see much point in debating her Democratic opponent, Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard, again as, according to her, "I think it's pretty defined what he stands for and what I stand for." Yep, he stands for telling the truth, participating in a debate thoughtfully and intelligently and asking difficult questions. Jan Brewer, on the other hand, stands for lying (she lied about "headless bodies" being found in the Arizona desert recently), not being able to string two words together, and not willing to answer difficult questions.

What's even more disturbing about Jan Brewer being Arizona's Governor though is, even after this debate debacle, Brewer is still popular in Arizona. You have to wonder then, what's wrong with Arizona that supporting this lying, racist, homophobic bigot who can't even do what a governor is supposed to do ie: speak, is the best they can do?

Jan Brewer is a liar (have you heard the lie about her father dying "fighting the Nazis in World War II", when in actual fact he died in 1955 of lung cancer and wasn't even in the military in World War II?). She has been investigated by a local TV station for being so buddy-buddy with lobbyists for groups wanting to build more state prisons the TV station suspects Brewer is getting 'under the table' money. Brewer is also a racist, homophobic bigot (check out the bills she lobbied for and signed into law against immigrants and gays) and has even taken money from the federal government intended for education and used it for border security (paranoid much?)

When you look at all these facts, the only rational assumption you can make is there must be something strange in Arizona's water if the majority if Arizonans still think voting for Jan Brewer is a good thing. But maybe they believe her when she said on Wednesday's debate, "I have did the best anyone could do". (And she thinks taking money from education is smart?)

Meanwhile, her opponent, Attorney General Terry Goddard, in response to Jan Brewer saying "no more debates" said, "It is our responsibility to give Arizonans clear information that will allow them to exercise their fundamental right to make an informed decision about who should lead our state into the future. Arizonans deserve more than a single discussion of the issues we face."

If I was in Arizona, I know who I'd be voting for.

Brewer has Arizona in mind and upholds the laws of the land, especially on immigration. She has the courage to challenge the President when he pulls stunts like suing Arizona for chasing out illegal immigrants. Arizona's got a good one with Brewer.

I've lived in AZ for 14 yrs. If Brewer wins, I will start my plans to move out of this State. It will just be too frightening to live in a State where the people elect someone like Brewer. I sure hope housing prices improve soon.

Arizona voters don't have the best record regarding electing candidates with character or good policies.

Agreed. And I will go 1 step further by saying that most white heterosexual christians overestimate themselves. Trying being a gay person, and you'll quickly see the real america that is occupied by the likes of Brewer. She's nothing more than a bobble-head, and you should know that you have Obama to thank for her doing a bang-up job. 1 bobble-head helping out another bobble-head.

Sounds like she overestimates herself. I think Arizona needs to take a hard look at her before going to the polls. Thanks!
