For obvious reasons, groups like ACLU, NAACP, have stepped up complaining. Some cities like Seattle are boycotting companies based in Arizona.
Personally I think Arizona has a point. Although the United States has the third highest Hispanic population in the world, those that did not get here by legal means contribute to high society cost; rather being it medical cost, lowing of wages, crime, and higher taxes for us.
So let me start by addressing healthcare cost and Medicaid for new citizens and illegal citizens, or simply those visiting our county on vacation.
Many States include in their budget a certain allowance of money to cover emergency care for those that are non citizens. In Washington State for example we have seen it has high as 179 million dollars in a single year. This bothered me greatly, and for the first time in my life, Ralph Nader and I had something to disagree about.
His belief is that the fat cats get more tax breaks combined then money spent on illegal's, therefore we shouldn't concern ourselves about this issue so much, but instead focus on getting the fat cats to pay their share of taxes.
My approach on the other hand is that we should stop feeding the wealthy with substantial tax breaks and stop giving money to people that are not U.S. citizens so we can have more money in our budgets to use for other things like public education.
I'm also one to tell anyone, that I believe we should only allow people in our country that help our economic growth, not hinder it. Therefore when I came up with my adjustments to government budget and departments, I included the bureau of labor statistics working with immigration to make sure this is how it is done, in order to sustain the United States economic future.
I have heard time and time again that Hispanics from Mexico tend to get more help than White American citizens with Medicaid, food stamps and things that cost states tons of dollars per year, so I decided to investigate this.
I would say that on the surface I found that to be true after several trips to the Department of Human Services, Department of Licensing, and Food Banks. I was a little bit surprised with the Department of Licensing. I found things like people coming from Mexico that became U.S. citizens recently were more likely to get through the Department of Motor Vehicles easier than White Americans. In regards to Hispanics, it didn't seem to matter if they had any Identification or not, however I witnessed time and time again White People being turned away for no birth Certificate, social security card, driver license from another state, proof of residence by utility bill or rental application, I hate to say this, but I saw more people turned away that had all these things. The reason for this was very clear, if they turned away Hispanics, they could get in trouble for discrimination, but turning down White Americans could never be such, not even in California where the majority of people are Hispanic.
Over all in regards to government hand outs between Whites and Hispanics though I know they vary from community to community, for example those with higher Hispanic populations obviously would have a greater amount of Hispanics on welfare, than White Americans and vice a versa. Found Hispanics more likely to get benefits.
I did a study of one city with a population of one hundred and fifty thousand people. 27% Hispanic, 8.7 other and the remainder white. I wanted to see who was getting the most in free medical services. Mind you, I do not know how many Hispanics were legal or not. I did trace those who needed interpreters, which by the way is also paid for by our government.
In a doctor's office of 5 physicians I did a study of 5 working days and took only people that had some form of Medicaid or charity care that the doctors provided free medical services. What I found out of three hundred and seventy nine patients seen that week. People on straight Medicaid were the following, Hispanics had 6 people, Russians had 2, and American White people had 7.
People that received free charity care (but are not free to us the public, in the sense that the doctors use it to reduce their taxes, which in turn causes the majority of us to pay more in taxes to make up the difference).
Charity care had 5 Hispanics, 8 American White, and 1 other. Then I compared those getting Medicare and Medicaid (Remind you that many people on Medicare) still had not worked a day in their life in the U.S., this is the category where I found the most people not speaking English. Hispanics were at 10, American whites at 7 and no others, out of the Hispanic ten, nine of them required interpreters, which cost roughly $65.00 an hour for our government to supply.
Obviously for the amount of population in measures of percent, Hispanics had the larger percentage for population; this included their medical services covered by our Government or through some charity.
The charity care in these instances were huge cost, many of these patients went on the have very expensive procedures done at a hospital for free. Cost ranging from two thousand dollars to twenty seven thousand dollars. That is a lot of money! Just think; this is only in five days. I also visited free clinics and out of the four times I went, I found around 75% to be Hispanic and almost none of them spoke English.
Currently our economy is hurting, despite this, there is a continued rise in jobs being exported overseas, why people are coming into our country at the same time causing wages to go down. Crime also increases in hard economic times. Many states complain they have no money for extended prison populations; in fact most states have actually had to let more people out because of shortages of money, so why should we allow people in our country that increases the problem? Some states bring it on themselves, for example California with their three strikes and out law, which can put a person in prison for life who just stealing bicycle and the list goes on and on. California welfare was very costly as well, and now they are paying for it. Although we continue to hear their budget woes, we have not heard about their ever increasing prisoner for life policy and the cost associated with it, along with plain mistakes on handling illegal immigrants. Obviously we have seen huge increases in violence from Hispanics coming from Mexico, a very big concern, this and given the fact that our government has failed to act, which has left our state prison systems over loaded and are causing significant increases in foreign populations which is out of control, we cannot afford this, given these facts, I understand Arizona's point of view on the matter.
In regards to Arizona law, the question becomes were does citizens rights start and stop when anyone can be stopped and asked for ID? Well, I guess the first thing I would say is that it has always been legal for officers to ask for ID. Now that being said, they have to have just cause. But usually any excuse will work. I, for example am white, and was stopped by an officer who stopped me for something that really wasn't illegal (small sticker in my back window; that actually sits below my back seats in my car. The officer stated he stopped me because there is a law about blocking vision. Although it was obvious I could see, but the officers just wanted to check me out in hopes of finding some crime that would lead to my arrest.
This happens all the time not just in Arizona. This is considered legal in the eyes of the law, so I feel the Arizona law really won't play any significant difference between what is already happening.
Personally I believe that Medicaid and Medicare should only be used with American Citizens.
I believe that people unless disabled or a child should only be on Medicaid for 2 ½ years nationwide regardless of race, such was my article on the three tier welfare system I developed. I also believe that we must not allow so many people in our country, especially when jobs are tight, and that the bureau of labor stats should work with immigration to make our economy strong, and have new people coming in that helps build our countries economic future instead of hinder it.
I also believe that we must enforce our boundaries along with punishing those coming into our country with the harshest of sentences, and yet to be honest I have no idea how to do that why attempting to lower the cost associated with jails and prisons. Releasing people back to their country does little good at all, they tend to come right back. The only thing I could suggest is trade sanctions until the borders are better enforced by the illegal immigrates Country.
My belief is if we don't address this issue now, we might well lose this struggle which might in fact cause the United States to lose all we built. Even if Arizona might not be correct in their approach in some ways, they at least understand the problem better than the rest of the Nation, and at least they are doing something about it, unlike the Federal Government and most States.
