A full day of fun and entertainment can be had at the festival. Two of the shows performed each year are the bird of prey flights and the jousting tournament. These are each performed 3 times daily and are the most popular of the shows.
Another experience that must be had at the Arizona Renaissance Festival is the Pleasure Feast. This is a 6 course meal over the duration of 2 hours. There is a live show that includes comedy and music, all you can eat and drink, and gifts and souvenirs. The comedy performance is not exactly kid friendly; but if it's possible, certainly be sure to attend the feast. There is limited seating, so it is a good idea to make reservations prior to attending.
There are many attractions that the kids will love. They can watch Dexter Tripp as he entertains them with his tightrope antics. There are interactive games such as an archery range and a dragon climbing tower as well as a people powered amusement park. If your little ones feel brave, they can feed the dragon.
If you are unable to attend the Pleasure Feast, there are many food vendors available on the fair grounds. The Royal Kitchens serve turkey drumsticks, pizza, steak-on-a-stake, and bread bowls. The Cappuccino Inn, Chocolate Shoppe, and Monk's Bakery offer a variety of desserts. If you are just looking for a drink, the pubs serve beer, wine, and soda.
There are many notable events planned for the 2011 Arizona Renaissance Festival. Throughout February, there is the opening Huzzah, princess and royalty contests, the King's birthday, and a pirate contest. March events include a poetry contest, a Celtic weekend, Fairy Fantasy and Magic, and a belly dancing competition. The festival comes to an end the first weekend of April with a fool's competition and The Final Huzzah.
Parking is free, and you can buy discount tickets at Fry's Food Stores prior to attending the festival. The discount prices are $18 for adults and $8 for children ages 5-12. Children under 5 are always free. You can also purchase tickets at the onsite Festival Box Office on the day of the event. The purchase prices here are a couple of dollars more, but the Box Office offers senior discounts of 3 dollars to those 60 and over.
The Arizona Renaissance Festival is open between the hours of 10AM and 6PM rain or shine. The 2011 festival will be held from February 12-April 3 every weekend and including President's Day Monday. It is located at 12601 East Highway 60 in Apache Junction, Arizona.
Stop by and experience 16th century Europe firsthand at the Arizona Renaissance Festival. It is a fantastic place to go for a full day of nonstop entertainment for the whole family.
