Why I Bought Arm & Hammer Double Duty Advanced Odor Control Clumping Litter
A few months ago, one of my cats developed a kidney problem. I could hardly stand to clean the litter box she uses because her urine has a very strong ammonia smell. You could smell the urine in the litter two rooms away from its location. It took my breath away. I was cleaning the litter box twice a day, but as soon as my cat used it, the smell was back. I needed to find a more effective cat litter that would kill the foul odor.
Product Rating
I dumped the existing cat litter from the box, and even threw the litter box away because it still smelled so bad empty. I filled a new box with Arm & Hammer Double Duty Advanced Odor Control Clumping Litter. Then, I waited for the urine smell. A day later, nothing. Two days later (I got busy and forget to clean the litter box), there was still no smell emanating from that litter box. When I cleaned it that night, I was shocked to smell nothing but a light, fresh odor. Arm & Hammer Double Duty Advanced Odor Control Clumping Litter clumps well. My cats don't track it around either.
Price and Availability
I found the smaller 14-pound boxes of Arm & Hammer Double Duty Advanced Odor Control Clumping Litter at Kroger. The regular price is $7.99. Petco and Amazon.com also carry this product. Eight dollars for 14 pounds of litter is rather expensive. But, Petco currently offers a large 28- pound box of Arm & Hammer Double Duty Advanced Odor Control Clumping Litter for $9.99. If you shop around, you can buy it cheaper.
Conclusion
I highly recommend Arm & Hammer Double Duty Advanced Odor Control Clumping Litter, especially if your cat has especially smelly urine or feces. I am amazed at how well this product works. Once again, unless you see a cat or a litter box at my house, you can't tell I have cats. You can't smell any litter box odors. And that's the way I like it.

Post a CommentI saw the ad for this litter saying it removes urine as well as feces odor. WHAT A BUNCH OF BALONEY!!
Not only does it not clump as well as "Scoop Away", it made my house stink and caused fruit flies to hover around the box. I had bought two boxes because I believed their ad. I threw the second box away and bought "scoop away". Right away the smell and flies were gone. In fact friends who had visited before and after actually asked me which litter I was using because there was absolutely no smell. The litter box is right in my living room and no one can tell :-)
This is great to know. My poor kitty had to be euthanized a week ago because his kidneys were failing. (I miss him so very much, but that's a whole other story.) For some time, his urine had been having a strong ammonia smell. So I understand the problem. I hope to get a new kitty in my life soon, and will definitely keep this product in mind. Hopefully, my local Petland Discounts sells it.
Let me start by saying that I have three very large cats. I have tried ever type of litter out there and I was about to just go crazy because I was tired of my house smelling like the cat box, even after cleaning daily! Well my husband and I were at Walmart and found the double duty stuff and we decided to try it and I can honestly say that I am completely satisfied with this product. I have read some reviews about this product smelling like broccoli or not even covering up the odor at all! What are you people talking about, you must not clean your box everyday... because I have not noticed any odor other than when they first go number 2 and then its gone within about a minute... I recommend this product to anyone with cats... It's rated a 10 for me!
'Double Duty' sounds doubly good to me! Thanks
Great review. My MIL uses this product and she loves it. Hope your cat gets well soon.
Terrific review Kass ~ passing this along to all my cat owner friends!
Great job as always!
I'm sorry to hear of your cat's kidney problem. I hope she is better now. Thanks for the review. I wasn't too pleased when I got up this morning and found one of the litter trays tipped on its side. I think the cats are trying to tell me something!
