Armageddon

Daniel  Zimmermannski
Rise, O Lord! Thy foes exultant
Vaunt themselves against Thy flock.
Fierce are they; with wrath and fury
All Thy might with scorn they mock.
Lo, the meek of every nation,
Thy entire congregation,
Ask Thy help; they seek; they knock.

By our strength we shall but perish
Flesh and blood cannot withstand
All the pestilential fury
That impends on every hand.
Save us, Lord! O let us never
Sink beneath their wrath forever.
Succor, Lord, Thy faithful band.

"By the blood by which I bought you
Heart and soul to be My own,
All this fury shall not touch you;
All your foes are overthrown.
Though your hurt they deeply cherish,
They themselves by wrath shall perish;
Helpless, impotent, they groan.

"As ye see this wrath commencing,
Shake your gloom; suppress your sigh;
And with eager expectation
Raise your heads with joy on high!
Joy beyond all earthly measure
Ye shall find in God, your Treasure!
Your salvation draweth nigh!"
