Armani Code: A Review

Brad Kamer
Last spring I decided to treat myself to a new bottle of cologne at the local Ulta 3. It has been a long time since I purchased cologne so many of the new brands sort of caught me off guard. I scanned the usual or traditional favorites such as Eternity, Obsession, Hugo Boss, Cool Water, and others. My last great bottle of cologne that I had a lot of success with is Armani's Aqua Di Gio. As I was a little overwhelmed by all the new fragrances I decided to enlist the Ulta 3 representative for help.

The woman working for Ulta 3 quickly pointed me into the direction of Armani's code. She had liked a few others, but preferred Code. Something told me this is a hot buy as there were only a few bottles left as the cologne seemed to be moving like hotcakes.

Armani Code Review: Scent

I had previously sprayed some Code on the sample paper tester and it still did not really give me a definite confirmation as to whether to make the purchase or not. Since this cologne was in the running against one other brand, I decided to spray each cologne on opposing wrists. I will say the Code smelled a little better. Even my children approached me and I requested that they smell each wrist. They both voted for the Code.

The overall scent is a mixture of citrus with a masculine musk tone. That is about as best as I can describe it. It seems to be the right balance of lemon and woody tones. As a shopper of cologne and aftershave I always try to find the right balance and Armani Code has it.

Armani Code Review: Price

The price for a bottle of a 2.5 ounce of Armani Code ran me about $55 at Ulta 3. The price is about what the minimal price is going to run for a trendy top shelf cologne that will last throughout the day. Actually I think this price was fair considering many top shelf colognes in the size range can go as high as one hundred dollars. I usually cap myself at about sixty bucks and avoid cheaper colognes that seem to fizzle out or wear off by mid morning.

Is Armani Code a good buy?

My overall impression of Armani Code is that I think it is a good buy. I like the fact that after a days work my family can still catch a whiff of the scent off my shirt. Of course I wish it was cheaper as the 2.5 ounce bottle lasted me approximately four months since I applied it just about every other day. You may want to keep this scent under lock and key to avoid others occasionally borrowing a "spray" or two.
