Armored: Movie Review

3/5 Stars

I thought I'd hate this movie. I really did. Despite being well cast, I thought it would fall painfully short. It doesn't. In fact, this is one of the few times a trailer has been somewhat dishonest, but the movie turned out better as a result. It seems every time I see a fantastic trailer the movie actually sucks. That didn't happen here. The trailer did little to get my attention. I thought it'd be a movie I'd see eventually, then forget about promptly. But, I was pleasantly surprised. The movie is much better than I'd anticipated. It's fast paced, well put together, well directed, well acted, well written, and it's a fun ride. With such a short run time, the action kicks off immediately and doesn't let up at all. The filmmakers even managed to throw a few surprises into the mix, which I enjoyed. Though, I enjoyed the film, I felt plot-wise there were some missed opportunities. There are elements brought up early in the story that if the writers had played them out a little bit differently, and maybe lengthened the movie even to 1hr 45min the whole movie could have benefited greatly. Even though this didn't happen, the movie is still good and fun. Ultimately, it will be one of those films I throw-in to the DVD player once or twice a year to forget about my day, and just enjoy what I'm watching.
