Fox News received a little dose of reality when according to their own poll; Ron Paul completely trounced all of the other candidates, including Mike Huckabee, who traded barbs with Congressman Paul on the war in Iraq. During this unscripted part of the debate, Ron Paul received a much greater response from the Conservative audience then did Mike Huckabee. The obvious show of approval was afforded to Ron Paul for his tongue lashing aimed at the current foreign policy.
Sean Hannity, who is staunchly opposed to the nomination of Ron Paul, had to begrudgenly concede that Ron Paul had won the debate. However, he did make it clear that he believed that Congressman Paul only won the debate because he had a lot of supporters calling in. Well, we must ask the question, who watches Fox News? The answer of course, is conservatives, and Libertarians, which are the majority of the people who vote in the polls.
Even Mike Wallace, the moderator of the debate tried to demonize Ron Paul by asking him a loaded question. The question goes something like this, "So Congressman Paul, you are basically saying that we should take our marching orders from Al Qaeda? What kind of question is that to ask in a debate setting? It is obvious that Mr. Wallace is trying to bait Ron Paul into a wrong answer, but even the conservative audience did not like that tactic and was quick to denounce it with boos and jeers. Nevertheless, when Ron Paul answered this question, by saying that we should take our marching orders from the Constitution, you could see the faces of the hard line GOP delegates change to an expression of bewilderment as the audience cheered for the Congressman.
The base of the Conservative Party is no longer falling into lock-step with the Party leaders. The people are beginning to open their eyes and see that their Party was hijacked and used for purposes that they were not aware of. It is now that the Party leaders will see their stronghold crumble before the people and we will see justice prevail. It only takes courage and fortitude to make sweeping changes, and by all accounts, I see this in Congressman Ron Paul.
