Army of Two Review (PS3)

Army of Two is a third person shooter released on Playstation 3 and developed by EA Montreal. This a good game to sink our teeth into, so let's get started.

Story : This game has a very underrated story. Most third person shooters are entirely blood and guts but that's not the case here. You're apart of the military in this game and you end up doing mercenary work and the like. I can't say too much or I'd ruin the story, but let's just say it's not bad and is fairly entertaining.

Graphics : The graphics in this game just slightly above average compared to other games of it's type. Everything is drawn well and has tons of animation. The backgrounds look fantastic and there's a lot of variation in this game overall. A great venture that's sure to entice your eyes graphically.

Sound : The music in this game is very, very good. It all fits well and isn't too obtrusive. Overall, it's very ambient but that's not a bad thing. Quite a bit of effort went into giving it great atmosphere and it shows and succeeds. The sound effects are decent but there's nothing really all that iconic here. The voice acting is good but the dialgoue is horrible, but what else is new? Musically, a good effort.

Game play : The game play in this game delivers in spades! Everything here is quite super. There are some puzzle-esque situations, mayhem shoot em' ups. Everything here is interesting and a ton of fun. This game is an absolute blast with a friend, and I highly recommend playing with a friend if you can. The difficulty is very good in this game, hard but not so hard you find it frustrating.

The game doesn't take itself seriously, and that's a good thing. It has a very fun feel without being overtly silly. You can't customize your weapon selection freely, which is a major negative. You only get three slots and one slot must have a type of rifle, one a type of handgun, etc. This is quite limiting overall.

Tactically the game is great. You need to use your head if you want to win, and that's how it should be. The boss battles are very fun without being cheap, and most are quite easy if you just sit for a second and think it out. Fantastic fun.

Re playability : A very fun game. Another solid third person shooter. It's got very stiff competition but I believe this is a title worth trying if you want some first person shooter action.

Overall: 8/10. Nice story, great graphics, good sound, great game play. This is a very good first person shooter that isn't mind blowing overall but still very good.
