Jeremy comes back home, he is still feeling guilty for his friend's death and asks his parents if he can borrow the car so he can go visit his friend's parents. Even though Jeremy isn't old enough to drink, his father gives him a beer and tells Denise if he is old enough to go to war, he is old enough to drink a beer in his own home.
Joan leaves for Iraq, she tells Roland she doesn't want him to go with her to the airport because she needs to stay in control and strong for her troops. She says goodbye to Sarah Elizabeth and to Roland.
The Sherwood's have a big barbecque at their house for Jeremy and invite all their friends. Trevor has to leave because his possible new recruit calls and tells him she lost her ride. Roxy is pretty upset at him that he has to leave.
Pamela jumps on Chase for lying to everyone about being in a helicopter accident. She doesn't understand why being captured and tortured is nothing to him.
Roxy yells at Trevor when he gets home that it seems like he is spending less time home with his family now that he is a recruiter, and he needs to spend more time. Trevor apologizes they decide to go out for burgers and bowling.
Claudia Joy stops and brings dinner to Roland after Joan leaves. She goes to pick up Sarah Elizabeth who has been napping and tells him that she is burning up. Roland takes her temperature and it's 105 degrees. They rush to the hospital.
The doctor tells them that Sarah Elizabeth may have pneumonia and that they have to run tests. Joan calls him and he doesn't tell her that Sarah Elizabeth is in the hospital, tells her that she is sleeping.
Pamela and Chase are invited to go bowling with Roxy's family and Chase says he can't go because he is going to visit a friend in the med clinic.
While at the bowling alley Trevor gets a call from Kanessa and she tells him that she is not enlisting, that she is at County General Hospital and hangs up. Trevor tells Roxy that he will make it up to them and leaves to go to the hospital.
Kanessa's sister overdosed on pills, and she tells Trevor that she has to take care of her niece and nephew now and that she can't let them go into foster care if her sister does this again. Trevor tells her that there are only two people showing these children how to live- you and your sister. Trevor tells her to think about it.
Sarah Elizabeth has pneumonia, the doctor tells Roland and Claudia Joy that the antibiotics have brought down her fever and that she will be able to go home tomorrow.
Pamela runs into Annette, who tells Pamela that Charlie and Chase went to the firing range the other night.
Jeremy visits Mark's parents and brings them a photo of them two together in Iraq. The father asks him how did my son die and Jeremy tells him the story other than the fact he switched with him and feels to blame.
Pamela asks Chase how the guy at the clinic was? Chase tells her they snuck him in a beer. Pamela starts yelling at him and he says that he can explain. He also tells her to get off his back and she screams at him to get out and he does.
Kanessa shows to the swearing in for basic training. She leaves for basic and thanks Trevor for everything he did for her.
Joan calls Roland never tells his wife about what happened with Sarah Elizabeth. Claudia Joy tells Michael that Roland didn't tell her. We have to protect our spouses keep them focused.
Denise asks her husband if she thinks Jeremy is okay or not? He said yes. Jeremy told his parents he was going out with his friends but he's standing on a dock overlooking water by himself, thinking.
