Aromas of Fall

Aromas Associated with the Fall Season

Kristen Wilkerson
In many parts of America, fall brings with it several associations, making it a wonderfully unique season. Take, for instance, the color changes brought with golden fields and painted trees. Dry corn stalks blow in the wind, leaves crackle underfoot, and nights turn cold. Football cheers fill the air as the sun sets earlier each evening.

Research shows that memories are often triggered by particular scents. For example, the aroma of spiced cider sparks images of an apple orchard or creating Caramel apples as a child. What comes to mind for you with these scents?

Chances are, these scents generate images somehow associated with a comforting memory experienced during the fall. Many people burn candles or fragrance oils with these scents to really connect with these memories. Those who don't burn fragrance, often choose to bake amazing desserts. They share the desserts with others, enjoying the fall scents and creating new memories in the process.

What scents generate thoughts of fall for you? What are some of your favorite fall memories? Please leave a comment! To share this article with others on Facebook, Myspace, or other sites, click on "Share" above.
