Arrest Made in Connection with Woodburn, Oregon, Bank Bombing
Police Today Made a Breakthough in the West Coast Bank Explosion
Police are keeping tight lipped about the circumstances revolving around the arrest in Salem, but did post blurred images from a CCTV camera that was filmed at a local Wal-mart. Police said that this was the man that was the main person, to who they want to speak in relation to the incident.
The arrest was made earlier Sunday, but the address at which the arrest was made and the name of the individual have not yet been released. A statement from Marion County Sheriff's Office said. "This is to protect the integrity of the investigation and the safety of officers continuing to investigate this crime. The arrest was the result of an intensive round-the-clock investigation by an inter-agency task force comprised of federal, state, county, and city public safety agencies."
Investigations are ongoing both in Salem and at the West Coast Bank in Woodburn. Where very little news is being released to the press or the public about the events that culminated in the explosion on Friday at 5.38pm. It is known that the device that detonated, was at first outside the West Coast Bank. It was then moved inside the building, where it went off. It is also not known why the device had been moved inside.
The District Attorney's Office has said tonight, that charges and the suspects name should be released within the next 24 hours sometime. Which on hearing this news, it seems there is some confidence that the police have the right man.
Marion County Sheriff Russ Isham has said. "I'm really proud of those who tirelessly worked to get us to this point and I am humbled by the community's support. We know there is still a lot of hard work ahead of us, but this development will help bring relief to the local community and the officers' families."
A reward of $35,000 was on offer for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the bombing. It is not known if the reward is to be claimed, or if police found the suspect of there own accord.
