I am a big fan of polenta and I often buy it already prepared. It wasn't until I came across a recipe for homemade polenta for the pressure cooker that I found out how easy and how much better homemade could be. The recipe I had called for corn grits. I found Arrowhead Mills Organic Corn Grits at Amazon.com.
Initially when I bought Arrowhead Mills Organic corn grits it was just for the purpose of the pressure cooker polenta recipe. After I made the recipe it was so good that that was the only reason I needed to continue to buy it. The polenta came out tasting better than any store bought polenta I have ever purchased.
Most of the time I make a full batch of polenta but sometimes I just want a quick serving. When I read the back of the Arrowhead Mills Organic Grits box I noticed it had instructions on how to make several servings at once or just one single serving of polenta. The directions were also included on how to make it in the microwave. The microwave directions were perfect for me.
I prepared the single serving version and it came out perfect. Creamy and not at all rubbery like you might expect from a microwave. A tip though is to watch it as it cooks; this applies to the microwave or stovetop. It starts to boils and can easily boil over and make a mess in your microwave or on your stovetop. Been there; done that. The directions for a single serving were perfect at 8 minutes. I occasionally like to stop it at 5 minutes for a yummy creamy corn mush breakfast. It is perfect sweetened or savory.
One of the main reason I chose Arrowhead Mills is because their Corn Grits are made without genetically modified ingredients. Most any corn product bought in the store today is genetically modified so it is refreshing to have companies like Arrowhead Mills sell a non-GMO products. There is absolutely no other ingredients in this product other than organic degermed yellow corn.
I really like the taste of Arrowhead Mills Organic Corn Grits. It cooks up easily in the microwave, stovetop or pressure cooker and comes out tasting smooth and creamy. I now buy this brand all the time and recommend anyone who likes corn grits or polenta to purchase this brand.
