Art in Bed

Sunflower
Did you know that you can do art while lying down, you do not have to sit or stand to do art, I am a artist and I do my drawing and painting while lying down in bed. I have been an artist for a year and a half now, and I don't find it necessary to sit or stand to do art, no need to get out of bed to paint or do a drawing, I find it quited comfortable to do my drawing in bed, "call it lazy if you like but", I can draw and paint on my side, or on my stomach, or back while lying in bed. I don't
find it necessary to buy a Easel, because with that you would need to sit or stand.b Or you could try painting on your knees with the canvas on your bed, I think that you will get tired much faster if you are sitting or standing while drawing or painting, seem odd? not at all when you're in a relax position you can also produces some great art, you can also try lying on the floor while painting. I find these different techniques to be comfortable rather than standing or sitting. My art has turned out better because I'm more relaxed, you're more tense standing or sitting with your arm extended for a long period of time. Remember, in first grade kids lay on the floor to do art, this would be done of course in the privacy of your own home, you could not do this in a studio, because you probably would have customers coming in and out of your studio, I'm talking about when you want to create some art at home, all of my art is done in bed.

I don't think every artist has tried this but, you will find with this craft, or hobbie you don't always have to sit or stand, it's always up to the individual who's painting as to how they want to render their painting and what is more comfortable for them, this is just another way of painting or drawing with comfort. You'll need something hard like a drawing board to put your art paper on, and if you're using canvas that is hard enough to work on without a board. You can place a container of water with a lid on it next to your bed, than put a hole in the lid so that you can stick your brushes into the water without spilling, and you can use a plate to put your paint on and mix it, because most paint (excluding water colors) doesn't drip that much, make sure you have a cloth near by to wipe excess paint if needed. You can spread something over your bed if you like but, I don't find this necessary. I was lying back on my couch, had a pillow behind me with my knees bent and I was able to draw from a picture on the DVD Player where I had paused it so that is could draw the picture, and it came out really well. If you try this way of painting or drawing in bed, always have some pillows behind you so that you can be proped up with your knees bend, and your art paper or board in your lap. If you're not ready to buy an Easel yet, you can also paint that way and be able to rest your arm on the paper as you draw. Art has so many techniques try this one if you want to relax while you create beautiful art while in bed.

And again, it's not for everyone but, just to let you know you don't have to stand up long hours or sit in a uncomputable position on a stool or in a chair with your arm extended to create a great piece of art. I don't think I have ever stood up since I've been doing art, standing my give you a chance to step back and look at what you have created but, lying back proped up with some pillows can also relieve a lot of stress, because when I'm creating my art, it's like nothing else is around me, I see only the art in front of me, and this is done with full concentration because I'm totally drawn into my work of art.

It also puts you in a more relaxed mood for creating art, at least it does for me.

it's easier sometimes to come up with new ideas while lying down and painting
