Real art at its best
Banksy canvas art represents all that is good and exceptional about real art. It is very evident that plenty of planning, afterthought and preparation go into making an authentic graffiti piece and Banksy makes it a point to do this with perfection. By using stencil techniques, Banksy has metamorphosised graffiti art into a genre to reckon with. He prefers to stay reclusive and shies away from any media attention or interviews. However, that does not stop the world from raving about Banksy canvas art paintings adorning the walls of London and other famous cities globally.
Society's mirror
One of the best and finest aspects about Banksy canvas art is that it shows society in its truest form. Whether it is about social class divides, politics, constant advertising, consumer-driven mentalities, capitalism or other pressing concerns, Banksy tries to use his paintings to convey these messages. All of his paintings show a side to his personality, which is anti-war, anti-capitalistic and shows him hating the political scenario. Most people who stay in London have not seen the real Banksy and his paintings are even more of a rarity. Since Banksy canvas art falls within the segment of graffiti art, it is difficult for his works to remain untouched for long. Often, it has happened that his works have been destroyed within a few days since they were painted. Either rival artists, or persons who dislike the social messages his paintings convey have obviously performed these menacing acts.
Famous paintings
Some of the most famous paintings comprising Banksy canvas art include the 'chalk farm maid' where a maid of ethnic origins is seen sweeping away dust behind a white curtain. Then there is the famous painting of a nude man hanging from a window. The scene shows a husband jealously searching for the man as the guilty wife looks on. Then there is another painting showing the London Bobby relieving himself on the sidewalk as well as another one called the 'ATM girl'.
Crime or art?
Most people consider street art to be a crime of sorts. This is why graffiti artists have to always work very quickly for they can never be sure when their works will be destroyed or obliterated. This is why most graffiti artists use stencils as it speeds up the painting process very fast. The stencils are created in advance and when the artist arrives at the spot for painting, the stencil is placed and the paint sprayed on. Initially, Banksy used to draw freehand but later realised the speed of stencils and soon switched to it. When it comes to Banksy canvas art though many of his works have been destroyed, people revere him greatly all across the globe. This is perhaps one of the reasons why many of his paintings continue to be sold at huge prices even to this day.
