Art and Travel in Rome

Robert Cole
Rome is one of the most beautiful places in the world and is home to world famous art and history. It's no wonder that millions from all over choose Rome for their vacation-with its archaic buildings, wonderful food and fascinating history.

Accommodations:

There is no shortage of hotels or travel companies out there to find you a nice place to stay, but one of the better ones is based out of Rome itself in Piazza Venezia. BookHotelsinRome.com offers many different options and price ranges in not just Rome, but other nearby cities like Milan, Florence and Venice.

Getting Around:

The Leonardo Express trains are the easiest ways to get around Rome, however renting a car or using taxi service is just as easy and affordable. Riding a bicycle is another great mode of transportation in Rome, especially if you want to explore the more hidden corners of Rome on a budget. The bus also offers a great way to get around with routes going on from 5:30am to 11:30 at night.

What to See:

There are often many different tour services offered in Rome. Good tour guides can be found everywhere so there's no need really to book with any specific guide ahead of time. Several package deals give visitors the opportunity to see such architectural wonders as the Colosseum or the Oculus of the Pantheon. Also, try to see Palatine Hill and the Baths of Caracalla-all of which give amazing insight into the creative ingenuity the Romans had when it came to their buildings. In another part of Rome, frequent tours offer an in depth look at Catholic Rome and it's many beautiful churches.

If you want to see some good Roman art, head to the Villa Borghese. This area, set atop the hill of Campo Marzio, is where you can find several art museums displaying not just ancient art, but also more modern Italian art. The Borghese Museum and Gallery is home to several famous pieces of art, including Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Apollo. Not far away is the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna which houses work by such notable artists as Degas, Van Gogh and Monet.

Rome used to be the hub of the known world and it's not difficult to see why. This serene country has cultivated over the years such an incredible culture that chances are, when it's time to head home, you won't want to leave. Rome is made up of art that is not just confined to paintings and sculptures. Around every corner is a piece of history to uncover. Every inch of Rome is in itself a museum of art and without a doubt impossible to compare to any other place on earth.
