In a basket, from the market,
sitting proudly, fresh and green;
Artichokes in all their armor,
How will I even start to clean?
How to cut it, how to cook it,
How to eat this strange new food?
Scrape the leaves across my teeth?
You must be kidding, that's so rude.
All the trouble to prepare it,
Is it really worth the time?
Anticipation, Aggravation?
It is opinion, yours and mine.
