Some sub topics of toy train collecting, that immediately come to mind, are 'How to start a collecting toy trains', 'How to build toy trains yourself', and 'Where to buy low cost collector toy trains'. From here you can either begin writing, or even find a sub topic of these sub topics. The deeper you go into sub niches, the more topics you have to write about and the less you will have to brainstorm.

Some sub niches of 'How to build toy trains', would be 'Building your first Train-Co Model 53 - Red Caboose Edition toy train'. This is also extremely targeted and is great for article marketing as well.

Another way to find great topics, which will be in high demand in the near future, is to write about future events. Before the recent Olympics in Beijing, China had even started, I saw articles floating around about what to look for, and who was predicted to win, etc... The authors of these articles knew that such information was going to be searched for and in demand.

Looking for topics in near future events is a great way to pick topics that will generally allow you to charge top dollar for. Upcoming events are hot, fresh, and talked about. These are perfect topics for squeezing the most money out of your article writing efforts.

Depending on who will be paying you for the content, generally all topics are fine to write about. One company I love is AssociatedContent.com. They allow you to write about any topic, within certain guidelines. This allows you creative freedom and relieves a lot of stress about what topics to choose.

If you are allowed to choose the topics of your choice, again, the best and first place to start is a brainstorming session. Jot down your ideas, passions, interests, hobbies, and anything that you specialize in. Perhaps you are an expert on soybeans. Go with it!

The most important thing to remember in article writing is to start. Whatever subject that you choose, however vague it may be, just start writing. Nothing can finish without a start.
