Articulate Plans

Jeanne Sparks-Carreker
Serving no purpose but fulfillment of his own needs,
Filling no one's day with any promised loving thing.
Returning to actions that makes a loving fool's heart bleed,
Not caring to note that they no longer believe anything.

Spending all his time accumulating for everyone else,
Borrowing this for that and likely pursuing the rest.
Forgiving debt that costs much to gain favor for only himself
Robbing love of all emotion, ignoring the empty, heavy chest.

Causing one to question even every single, small intention,
As though the devil himself has taken up in him residence,
Then blaming anyone wanting to know exactly how to love him
For questioning what's no longer known out of his presence.

If they could be free, to fly a heart far away, if only for a moment,
Let go of the love that lent much to who they are today,
Would they survive the loneliness they'd would suffer without him -
Loneliness, you realize, felt every second with him, anyway?

I think of how all this has changed them,
Wiped away who we have all been,
Replaced all the love with suspicion and hurt,
Taken away most precious, loved friends,
So he raises the answer to his mouth, opens to take it in,
And in one blast their future is bright,

Until the muzzle cools off again.
