Artsplosure 2010 (May 15th and 16th) is an annual art event that displays local, regional, and national artists in Raleigh, NC (downtown area). I use to attend Artsplosure each year as a child and this is my first time attending as an adult. I volunteered this year as a booth sitter and I am going to give a review of this years' event.

What was going on? There was a live band/choir, food vendors, and of course artist booths.

There were three stages, two for adults and one for kids. The band by the name of Mel Melton and the Wicked Mojos. It is kind of hard to describe their music. The best way to describe the music, it made you want to dance. They had you wanting more of it. If you want to hear more about them go to www.melmelton.com.
The choir's name was JJ Wilkins and Voices of WCC. There was a choir singing gospel music since the day I attended was Sunday and I am in North Carolina. It was an amazing group. Even if you are not a church goer you would love this group. If you want hear more about them go to www.wakechapel.org.
On the kid's side, they were entertained by Wacky Chad (I think the name says it all) who also did magic tricks, such as balancing an ice cream cone on his nose and riding a x-small bicycle. Also for kids entertainment there was face painting, kite-making, and color bands.

Food vendors;
It was pretty much the same old thing. Hot dogs, ice cream, and Italian ice. There was one that was different and it was soba noodles (so good). I understand vendors need to make money but come on $4 for a hot dog, chips, and can drink(food for one person). All the food seemed to be overpriced. Eating here is not ideal for a family of four.

Artist Booths;
One word, AMAZING. There was ceramics, fiber art, glass, jewelery,photography, and more. The artist came from as far north as Pennsylvania, as far west as Ohio, and as far south as Florida. It gave me a glimpse to what the artist was thinking as well as the time it takes to create such masterpieces.

Overall, I think the event was great. There was a very diverse group of people there (the crowd and artist). The downside is the food cost. I would recommend that anyone into art should come out. Even if you are not do something different.

DISCLOSURE OF MATERIAL CONNECTION:
