As the Hurricane Approches People Throng like Roaches

Mary Martin

People fill the isles of every store,

Scurrying like roaches.

In and out they pour,

As the hurricane approaches.

Carts are filled with toilet paper, milk and bread.

Shelves are almost bare.

No time for casual shopping instead.

The storm is coming and the flag is red.

Batteries are needed.

None on the shelves are the right size.

Many approach the clerks who are pleaded

To help them find the prize.

Though the people swarm

With list in hand,

As lines begin to form

Hearts begin to band.

People begin to share

Where things can be found

For others most really do care.

There is time for good deeds to abound.

Oh my gosh David, you had me rushing to see where I used thong instead of throng! Whew! I am safe and you my friend are unsettling funny.
