As the NBA Turns, No Trophy for LeBron

S. E. Masters
The NBA playoff season is the usual post season soap opera. The Magic's crushing of their opponents is no shock. Not to mention that the Celtic/Cav series is tied. Who would have thought that the Spurs would be swept? Tony Parker to the Lakers next season anyone? A Khloe - Eva cat fight for sure. The Jazz could have at least won one game to make it interesting. The Salt Lake City fans ought to be banned from their next home playoff game. Charles Barkley should go fishing for saying that Kobe is old.

Now, let's do a little predicting here. Mr. James will not be hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy in 2010. The Celtics will win the series in 7 games. The borrowing of Shaq's time for the season made a little sense in the beginning, but they just don't have the knockout punch when it counts. In fact, LeBron like Sir Charles may never win a title. Perhaps a return trip to the 2012 Olympics may be his best guarantee for a top prize. But that's another story.

The NBA finals will be a re-match from last year. The Lakers will repeat. Until Dwight Howard learns not to smile until he's won a championship, he won't win one. Past champions know that. Speaking of the Lakers, remember that you first heard here from me that before Kobe retires Dwight Howard will be a Laker. History has proven that the best big man always ends up in Los Angeles. Wilt, Kareem, Shaq and in a couple of years Howard who will marry [cougar] Paula Abdul in a private fairy tale wedding at Abalone Cove in Palos Verdes.

Just kidding about the Dwight and Paula thing.

Stay tuned. This soap opera report will return at the same time next year.
