Vote No for Mitt Romney

Krismarie Fernandez
As a Republican, I wouldn't vote for Mitt Romney if he were the last Republican in the race.

You may have heard of 'Yellow Dog Democrats', a descriptive phrase meaning that a true blue Democrat would vote for a yellow dog before they'd vote for a Republican. Myself, I'm a split ticket Republican-I'm registered with the Republican party, but I vote with my conscience.

My conscience would never let me vote for Mitt Romney. Oh, he has similar values that I have, but he has a fatal flaw-he believes that science fiction is real. He's a Mormon.

I believe that religious freedom is one of our most basic American rights. I don't believe that someone who is active in what I was raised to believe, and still believe is a cult, should be in the highest office in the land.

Mitt Romney is one of the Republican candidates for President. I agree with his stance on immigration, I don't believe in amnesty for the immigrants who've broken the law. I agree with him that education is important. I agree with his stance on sexual offenders and that keeping them behind bars with longer sentences is the right thing to do.

His fiscal record in Massachusetts is impressive, balancing his budget the first year in office is phenomenal. I agree that the tax-code must be simplified and that the government must control its spending.

I agree with him in his belief that abortion is wrong, except in extreme cases, such as rape, incest or the mother's life is in danger.

I absolutely agree that we should increase our technology prowess here at home, and not rely on foreign importation. I agree with him that the government needs to do more to encourage home-grown technological ability, including defense and energy saving technologies.

A definition of the word 'Cult' reads- a religion or sect regarded as unorthodox or spurious, also its adherents.

The Mormon religion is a man-made religion based on the teachings of a man named Joseph Smith. His Book of Mormon is considered by the 'Latter Day Saints', the moniker they like to be referred by, to be on par with the Bible as a God given scripture.

You are required to go through a life-long process of genealogy-proving you are descended from Joseph, or Adam and Eve if possible, missionary work, marrying Mormon, and if you're a man- becoming a priest within the church, before you can be considered to be a 'Saint'. The eventual culmination of doing everything 'in accordance with the Book of Mormon' means that you will have the privilege of God awarding you your own 'planet'- or as the Book of Mormon says, a new heaven and a new Earth with a New Jerusalem, where you and your spouse are granted 'godhood' and the instruction to teach and begin the cycle again.

The Book of Mormon reads like a badly written gothic sci-fi novel with heavy religious overtones and poorly constructed historical background. How could I trust the nation in the hands of a man who believes the above? The answer, I cannot.

I believe in separation of church and state. I believe that the Bible is the Word of God.

I may be a Republican, but I'll vote my conscience, and will not vote for Mitt Romney for President.

I have my problems with Romney, but that has more to do with his policies ("Romneycare", flip-flopping on issues) than his being a Mormon. I have zero problems with that. Look at Harry Reid, someone who I despise... he's a Mormon too, but you never hear anyone bellyaching about that. But I despise Reid because of his policies (and his flat out annoying personality), not because of his religion. Romney isn't my choice for president, but I'll still take him over the arrogant buffoon sitting in the White House now.

Any religion requires one to believe in the miraculous, so don't pick on Mormons solely. Maybe you have a problem with all religions. You have clearly misstated Mormon's religious beliefs. They are good, law-abiding people, who are a great asset to this country and its pursuit of protecting our freedoms. It's sad that Romney stands for all the things that you would like to see from government, but because he's a Mormon, you won't vote for him. Your separation of Church and State comment was illogical. Your views are bigoted. What religion must a person profess for you to vote for him or her? I'm sure I could point out some inconsistencies with it as well as some parallels with sci-fi. Open up your heart and do the right thing for your country, vote for Romney. Unfortunately, he got snubbed by religious bigots such as yourself last time that has had a huge negative impact on our country ever since. How much better we would all have been, if Romney had been at the helm.

It is sad that you actually consider yourself a "christian." I find your bigotry to be small and disgusting. Have you always had the need to criticize others, just to make yourself feel large?

I'd vote for a Mormon any day, especially since it has nothing to do with political leadership. Look what we got instead: a President devoid of moral values, taking the country down piece by piece.

This is why church and state are kept separate- so that issues as insignificant as a candidate's religion does not prevent them from holding office.

It's called the Bible. The inspired word of God in which this nation was founded on. Christianity is not a "religion." It's a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who walked this earth and was raised from the dead. It's not too late to give your life to Christ. The great thing about this nation is that we are free to believe what we want, but come judgement day, only then you will be accountable.

As far as I can tell, all religions are man-made. Lest you can PROVE a God has spoken directly to you and given you specific directives. As other posters have said, religions are based on faith, things in which you believe. However, I actually think it has more to do with culture and passing of traditions than anyhing else. Oh yeah, I agree....you are a F!@#. ROMNEY RULES!!!
