As Seen on TV Product Review: Aqua Globes

Marsha J
Aqua Globes is an "As Seen on TV" product that consists of a two-piece, hand-blown glass set that will water your plants for you to save time. They are beautifully designed and their look of stained glass helps to add color and art to your gardens or indoor potted plants.

The Claims: Aqua Globes are marketed as a solution to keeping plants watered and healthy as well as decorated. We are told that they can be used in hanging plants, exotic plants and houseplants regardless of size. The biggest claim of Aqua Globes is that they can water your plants for up to two weeks.

My Experience: I have more than 20 potted plants in and outside of my home. I find that indoor plants do not need much water because there is no sunlight to quickly dry the plants. However, I decided to try the Aqua Globes to see if they will be a good product to keep my plants watered when I'm away from home for long periods of time, such as a family vacation.

The package arrived and neither of the glass globes were cracked or chipped. They arrived in great condition. After reading through the how to use guide, I filled one globe with water and placed it in the planter. At first nothing happened but after a few seconds, bubbles began to float to the top of the globe. This lets me know that water was being delivered to my plant.

I kept an eye on the plants and globe over the next few days, and within a week and a half the Aqua Globe was finally empty.

My Conclusion:

Overall, I give the Aqua Globes a 3 out of 5.

For me, the Aqua Globes did work as advertised. My plant was kept watered and it's just as healthy as it was before but I just don't have to water as much as usual. Due to the fact that my indoor plants don't require much water I use my set on my outdoor plants and have ordered more Aqua Globes to assist me.

Complaints and Solutions

No product is perfect and many have had problems with the Aqua Globes watering system. Here are a few solutions that may help.

Some people have complained that the water does not last two weeks for them and some are lucky if the water does not run out in a matter of days. However, they may not have read the section that states, you may need two or more Aqua Globes for big pots. One will get the job done, especially if it is outside in the sun.

Another complaint I have heard often is that the Aqua Globes become clogged with dirt and debris when you place them in the pot.

The solution to this is to use a small stick to make a hole for the Aqua Globe. The effect of pushing the globe into the dirt instead packs the dirt into the open tip. However, a hole that is too large will mean that the water leaks out faster and will flood.
