I can still hear you
sleepwalking to the kitchen
for the earthly aroma
and bittersweet taste
of your doses of caffeine.

Your hair still wet,
you turn on the t.v.
for the morning news.
You rev up the car's engine
as you drive off to work.
Tomorrow, your footsteps

and I'll put flowers on your grave.
