"As the World Turns" Bids Farewell to Elena Goode (Jade)

Misti Sandefur
On July 16, 2007, Elena Goode (Jade) will be leaving "As the World Turns." Elena Goode has played the role of Jade Taylor since February 2, 2006. During this time, she has manipulated many of the residents of Oakdale, and she has lied on many accounts. Elena Goode's character, Jade, became obsessed with Will Munson, her friend's husband, and did everything in her power to break them up.

In October of 2006, Elena Goode's character, Jade, lied to Will Munson when she led him to believe she was pregnant with his child. On top of that, she tried to stage a fall in an attempt to setup Will's wife, Gwen, to take the blame for making her fall and miscarry a baby that wasn't even there. Prior to this incident, Jade blackmailed her cousin, Luke Snyder. When she found out Luke was gay, she told him she would tell his parents he was gay unless he let her stay at his parent's home. Because Luke wasn't ready to come out of the closet, he gave in to Jade's blackmail.

Just recently, in another attempt to break Will and Gwen up, Jade posted an ad on the Internet. With her ad, she included a picture of Gwen and said she would pay the person who could look like and act like Gwen. A crazy girl, Cleo, from Turlock replied and met Jade in Oakdale. Upon meeting Cleo, Jade determined that this geeky girl looked nothing like Gwen, but when Cleo proved she could sound and act like Gwen, Jade gave Cleo a makeover. However, Cleo developed a crush on Will, so she turned against Jade. Cleo's plan was to split Will and Gwen up so she could have him all for herself. Jade tried to confess the truth to Will, but because she had lied to him one too many times, he didn't believe a word she said.

Aside from all the bad things Jade did, she had some good in her heart. She rescued Gwen from Will's older brother, Adam, when Adam attempted to rape Gwen. In addition, when Cleo tied Jade and Gwen to the train tracks in Branson, MO., Jade freed herself and then ran to Will to get him to free Gwen before the oncoming train took her life. Jade could have left Gwen there to die, but instead, she ran to Will to let him know where Gwen was.

Prior to "As the World Turns," Elena Goode performed in productions of "The Heidi Chronicles," Misanthrope" and "The Owl & the Pussycat." In addition, Elena Goode has also made appearances on "All My Children" and "Undefeated," a HBO series directed by John Leguizamo.

Despite Elena Goode's role as a villain on "As the World Turns," she was a great actor and many will miss her. Elena Goode told Soap Opera Digest, "They were never really sure what to do with the character, which also made it difficult for me." There's still no word on whether or not Elena Goode will return to "As the World Turns," but rumors are circulating that she may end up with a role on "On Life to Live."

Jade is my favorite character (I live in the Netherlands, I'm 1.5 years behind so I still get to see Jade everyday, she just told Will she's pregnant) But I don't want her to leave, everythign about her was perfect...the character and the actress....Julia Larrabee actually is the only character that I love this much, but she's gone too... Jade should come back... then I won't have to worry about her leaving either.
P.S. Every hairstyle fits on that girl!

I am also a huge huge huge fan of Jade Taylor on ATWT. I loved the fact that she had a take no prisoners attitude. They let a good actor go. Goodluck Elena Goode. With your talents you won't need it

Charlie, I only watch ATWT and DOOL, sorry. I wouldn't care to write on Y&R too if I watched it and was familiar, but with soaps, I think you have to watch and be familiar with it to write on it. And because my writing life keeps me busy, I only have time to watch two, and sometimes I miss them, but I'm familiar with the storylines and characters enough to write on them. I would do recaps here, but it takes so long for AC to publish the content that the recaps would be old. If I ever do get hooked on Y&R, I will be sure to write on it as well.

Lisa, thank you for the compliment. It's always nice to hear when my articles have helped or even entertained someone. Yes, I will be writing more "As the World Turns" news articles, and I may even do some "Days of our Lives" news articles. I watch both soap operas, so the news articles are fun to do. In case you don't want to keep checking back, your more than welcome to subscribe to my articles to be notified each time I publish a new one.

Brandy, thanks for the comment. I think you misunderstood some of the article, though, because Jade didn't get hit by the train. She freed herself. She's not scheduled to leave the show until July 16, and I'm not sure how her exit will be, but I can hardly wait to see. I just wander what the show will be like without her. She was a good actor. Keep watch here as I plan to write more news articles about "As the World Turns," when I get the news. :)
