As the Years Go By

As The Years Go By.

The day that I met you.

The first time you kissed me.

The first time you held me.

These memories still fresh in my mind,

As the years go by.

The day that you asked me, and gave me a ring.

The day that we told everyone, our lives were to begin.

The day that we wed.

These memories seem like yesterday in my mind,

As the years go by.

The day our first child was born.

The first moment you saw her, and the love in your eyes.

The first day of school, with her hand in yours.

These memories seem like only last year,

As the years go by.

The day our oldest was married.

The day our first grandchild was born.

The day you graduated college.

These memories seem like only a few minutes ago,

As the years go by.

The day you got you graduated college.

The day you started your present job.

The day you retired.

These memories seem like only a minute ago,

As the years go by.

The day our youngest moved out, and the nest empty.

As the children marry and have families of their own.

As our bones ache and our lives change, I want you with me,

As our hair turns to gray, and the time passes too quickly,

The memories never fade,

As the years go by.

These years fly by, as do our lives along the way,

As the years go by.

Life seems so short, and is never fair,

As the years go by.

You are still my best friend, my soul mate and love of my life forever,

Even after all these years. By my side to protect me,

As these years go by.

I want you with me as these years go on by,

Forever and ever, never to leave my side.

As these years roll on by.

I Love You Forever.

As all of these years go by.

This is a very beautiful love poem, but still a bit sad at the same time.

What beautiful thoughts you've woven into words.
