Ash Plate

James Patton
Should the bomb have been spit
offshore and high
during dinner,
the mushroom cloud makes Japan forfeit.

The waters surely remain cold
though the sky above,
puffing cheeks,
may blow away the atmospheres hold.

And they did what they did
before they did,
to gag
mouths of possibilities with democracy's lid.

Yes, its a distorted quatrain following an end rhyme scheme of A-B-C-A. The middle stanzas, B-C, follow word counting. Sometimes it's fun to have an order that only kinda follows rules =-)

This is very expressive. I am such a poor poet, but I do study them. Is this a form of alternating quatrain? I think the most difficult is the Pantoum. Thanks for sharing. You write very well.
