Asheville Pizza & Brewing Company
The best place in Asheville for burgers, movies, and beer. Of course this restaurant is known for its amazing pizza and has been voted the Best Pizza in WNC for 7 years in a row. Lucky for us they have a great menu and serve much more than just pizza. If you love a tasty burger, the Asheville Pizza & Brewing Company serves the Royale with Cheese. The Royale is ½ pound of Black Angus Beef grilled with lettuce, tomato, and any cheese you like that they have on the menu. You can still experience the delicious burgers at this restaurant, even if you are a vegetarian. They feature the Olives Veggie Burger which is a black bean burger with soy cheese and also the Viva Las Veggie Burger, which is the famous Veggie Burger patty with cheese, and it is served with beans and rice on the side.
In terms of the movies here, it is like a normal theater, but every other row has been taken out and replaced by tables for dining. It is $3 per ticket to watch a movie and keep in mind that the seats here do fill up fast. As their website says the goal is to "sell out EVERY 7pm and 10pm show", so you definitely want to buy your movie tickets in advance or arrive early to obtain them. You can even purchase the tickets one day in advance. Open 7 days a week from 11am until midnight, this burger place is worth the trip, and you get to see a great movie while you have dinner.

Jack of the Wood
A Celtic style pub located in downtown Asheville, where local musicians play traditional Irish music, bluegrass, and much more. Patrons are always having a great time at Jack of the Wood and they love the burgers served here. A local favorite, the best burger on the menu here is the Guinness Pub Burger, which is antibiotic and hormone free Angus beef. The beef has been marinated in Guinness stout and it is served on a delicious bun along with specialty toppings. If you do not eat meat, Jack of the Wood also serves a vegan burger called the Hempnut. The burgers and sandwiches here are served with pub fries or hand-cut potato chips. You can always order a different item from their full menu of appetizers and entrées if you are not in the mood for a burger. A sampling of the menu features items like Shepherd's Pie and Banger's & Mash, so you have a variety of options. The hours for this pub vary depending on the season so check out their website for the updated hours.

The Admiral
A restaurant that is known for some of the best burgers in Asheville. On the website The Admiral is described as "the elegance of a clipper ship in full sail with the practicality and economy of a cinder block." This restaurant is at the top of the list in terms of places where locals go for the best burger and great drinks. It is open from 4pm-2am M-F and on Saturday 5pm-2am. The establishment is more of a dive bar than a cute burger joint, but they definitely know how to serve up an amazing burger here, and customers rave about the rest of the menu too. Featuring the Everett Farms Local Beef Burger that is served with your choice of toppings you cannot go wrong. The menu features delicious items like Seared Diver Scallops and Buttermilk Poached Chicken Breast. On Saturday nights they do charge a cover because they have a DJ spinning. It is definitely worth the trip if you like great food and fun, in a casual atmosphere with friendly people.

Post a CommentHere's my take on Asheville's Burger Scene. I always choose a cheddar and bacon burger and am very picky about doneness, crispiness of bacon and layers of flavors with meat, bun and condiments. Guess that makes me a bit of a burger snob. My favorite place to have a burger is my place. But if forced to choose from restaurants, here's my biased opinion%3
Top Burgers- 5 Guys, LAB (Lexington Avenue Brewey) and Mayfels
ll are consistent with quality and know how to prepare medium-medium well burgers. Crispy bacon and thick cheese add to the experience. Juicy and flavorful with great buns to compliment.
Worthy Burgers- Sunny Point Cafe (West AVL), Pack's Tavern
Both have trouble with consistency. Sunny Point used to be my favorite- especially since they used Hickory Nut Gap beef and local thick cut bacon. But my last 3 or 4 tries have resulted in way overcooked and gray meat- even when ordering medium. Hope they can get back to their former glory.
on't Both
The Admiral menu sounds like my cup of tea. Love scallops.
Jack of the Wood sounds awesome; I like the first one with its veggie burger options.
