Ashlee Simpson and Other Good Mommies in Hollywood

First things first. Just because a woman becomes pregnant before marriage does not automatically mean that they are doomed to be a terrible parent. My husband and I conceived our daughter before being married and she is turning out just fine... as is our marriage.

Being a good parent is all up for interpretation. Some will say that a home, food and clothing are all it takes to make a good parent, while others say that the best toys and the fanciest play dates round out the criteria. Personally, I think that every person has the potential to be an outstanding parent, but it takes work.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has a fairly good chance to turn out as good mom. Her family has a strong religious background, she seems to have a handle on her money, she appears to be in a loving relationship, she is an independent woman, and she is not on her way to rehab!

Ashlee has turned her time in the spotlight into that of a good role-model, by Hollywood standards. Just because she may or may not be the most talented artist on the circuit does not mean that she is not a good figure for young girls. Everyone should be granted mistakes, and she is still young. To me, as long as she evolves into a responsible parent and has outgrown her young ways, she will be a good parent.

To me the most important aspect of being a good parent is simply to love your child and put them and your family above anything else...always! Everyone needs to sow their oats in order to provide their children with life lessons to guide them on the path to becoming a responsible, productive member of society.

Only time will tell how her parenting skills will pan out, but I think that she and Pete Wentz are headed at a good start. They apparently put a value on their privacy, which should prove beneficial to their offspring.

With motherhood becoming a hot trend in Hollywood, Ashlee has some peers to call on for advice on diapers, toys, parenting tactics, and of course fashion! Some potential play-date-mommies could include Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes, or Victoria Beckham.

Angelina Jolie seems to have her ducks in a row. Expanding her multicultural family, and teaching them the importance of diversity and giving back will prove beneficial to each of them. I will predict that each of these children will be held to high expectations and will exceed these expectations because of the example their mother sets for them every day. Additionally, I think that many of the choices that Jolie has made will be a learning experience for the kids and emphasizing that their mother has an open heart.

Katie Holmes is another example of a good parent. Scientology aside, Katie has her daughter's interest at the front of her mind at all times. Suri is well protected and seems to be loved by both parents. I think that love and dedication will help to pull Suri through any hard time or criticisms that she will face.

Victoria Beckham is another spotlight hugger that seems to have it together when it comes to her kids. Although not a whole lot is published about her kids, as a mother she possesses qualities that I admire. She has a loving relationship with her husband, she puts her family first all the time, and she protects her kids at any cost. Victoria has withstood criticism surrounding her family, but they have always stuck together and backed each other. I think that is important to provide a united front for your children.

Young Hollywood is often harshly criticized for their kids and their lifestyles, however I think that when reading or watching the criticism it is important to remember that this is their lively hood. They get paid to stay in the spotlight and on the pages of the magazines, and most of the accusations are falsified. Being a celebrity is a lifestyle that kids must adjust to, just the same as if a child needed to adjust to their parent having to work long days away from home in order to provide for their family. Kids are resilient and as long as Ashlee and Pete love, support, protect and provide for the baby Wentz, Ashlee's parenting skills should not be an issue.
