Ashlee Simpson Pete Wentz Release Statement; Lindsay Lohan Officially Charged (See Links)
The shocking news of Simpson and Wentz seems to have come out of left field as they appeared to most as a happy young couple by Hollywood standards.
However, the married duo of 2 ½ years is calling it quits and have released the following statement:
"After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives."
The ever popular 'irreconcilable difference' box was checked by Ashlee who filed for divorce yesterday. Many reports are stating that the split is an "amicable" one, yet sadly, with a child involved it's very possible that it won't stay that way (Halle Berry & Gabriel Aubry case in point).
In the meantime, it is now official: Lindsay Lohan has been charged with felony grand theft of a $2,500 necklace from a posh jewelry store in Venice, CA.
The theft apparently took place 'on or around January 22' which would be at least several weeks after Lindsay completed her latest rehab.

Lindsay is to appear in court at 1:30 pm PT today and prosecutors will be asking that bail be set at $20,000.
The theft is said to be Lindsay's 'most serious' crime and could land her in prison for up to three years if convicted.
