Ashton Jones: The First Cut is the Deepest (on 'American Idol' on March 10, 2011)

She was a Looker, but It's Mostly About the Pipes

Connie Wilson
Ashthon Jones is off the show,

A beauty, yes, she had to go.

Her voice was not the best of all

(Although, dressed up, she was a doll.)

Ashthon had an elegant look

But her vocal stylings lacked that "hook."

Sometimes sharp and sometimes flat

No bag of chips (and all of that.)

The three who finished low this day

Deserved their spot, that I would say.

The songs they picked were also bad

Yet Ashthon's grief did make us sad.

But all who've made it here, this far,

Will likely go on, become a star.

No need to spill unhappy tears.

Jennifer Hudson allays those fears.

  • March 10, 2011 Fox airing of "American Idol" at 8 PM (ET)
  • Ashthon looked gorgeous and elegant and "like a diva" in her silver one-shouldered dress.
Ashthon was one of the singers I placed on my "Less Good" prediction list. So were the other two who awaited an uncertain fate; Haley Reinhart and Karen Rodrigeuz. Get better songs, girls!
