Asian Fashion for Men

Is America Really Just Behind on Men's Clothing?

It might not be apparent, the difference between Asian clothing for women and "American" clothing for women. It's all based on style for the women. Make it flowy, make it loose, make it sexy in a way. But for men, it's quite different. While we see men, when in casual American clothing, wearing larger shirts, looser pants (the sagging!), and bigger shoes, those in touch with their Asian fashion catalog dress quite differently. Dress shirts are tight fitting. There are more v-necks and u-necks. It's all about slimming down the clothes to show off the masculine body to an extent.

With this comes some very cool benefits. Asian clothing, even if bought online (ships from Asia, which costs a lot), will definitely beat out the standard mall prices while offering catalogs of thousands of items. For example, a slim-fit dress shirt from a Korean company called Dangoon costs $18.75. Head to any department store in a mall and you'll find that a looser dress shirt from, say, Club Room will cost $30 to $35 after discounts. It's not just the style at hand. It includes prices.

An interesting thing to note is that a slim-fit dress shirt probably appeared before in Europe. Fashion trends tend to travel from Europe to Asia and finally to America. This brings up an important topic: What's the difference between the slang "homosexual" fashion, Asian fashion, and metrosexual fashion? Well, one could definitely argue that all three are the same; however, there are distinct differences. "Homosexual" fashion often revolves around European clothing. These styles include shorter-than-average shorts, tight pants, slip-on shoes, and very fashionable headwear. Asian fashion and metrosexual fashion converge a bit, incorporating American influences. These two fashion types include stressed jeans, tight clothing, professional clothing incorporated into casual situations (including ties, dress shirts, slacks, etc.), cotton pants (something that can be considered outdated in American fashion), scarves, and other related items.

Asian fashion for men is something we need to embrace. It will come over time, but there are those who still hold in their mind that "Asian clothing might as well be gay." for lack of better terms. This might just say something about the American mindset when it comes to ease of stereotypes and discrimation. But all in all, it's just nice clothing.
