I have recently opened a new Twitter account. I have to say that I have been enjoying it. Not only have I met some interesting people, I have seen a rise in my page views. It is a win-win situation. Plus, I am able to follow a lot of people and musicians that I happen to love. Since I got a tattoo that is similar to the birthmark of the Taarakian from Heavy Metal on my neck, I used a picture of hers from the movie as my picture, and my Twitter name is Ginnthe Tarakian. Unfortunately, I did not realize that I had the extra space for the other letter a in Taarakian. Duh! However, people seem to know what I mean.
Apparently, my name gets a lot of interest and attention from the people who are fans of both the movie and Taarna, herself. I'll be honest and admit that I am not, nor have I ever been, as sexy, beautiful and bad-assed as Taarna, but I see the symbol as one of strength and the ability to overcome adversity. As I suffer from the constant pain, tendency to catch any illness, and exhaustion from Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency/Fibromyalgia and manage to live my life to the best of my ability, I feel that the tattoo is something that reminds me that I can get through anything. Another confession is that it's a really hot tattoo. My husband certainly thinks so.
To return to my enjoyment of Twitter, I am really having a lot of fun following people such as Weird Al, Milla Jovovich and Simon Pegg (Pegg is Shaun in Shaun of the Dead). Not only are there a lot of famous people to follow, there are some fantastic people who "tweet" things that I find interesting. Plus, some of my new friends are very talented in many ways.
Also, I have been "tweeting" my links to my contributions on Associated Content. Like I said, my page views have gone up quite a bit. I have also been asking for opinions on an idea for a website and a blog, and I have received messages from those friends telling me that they will be more than happy to contribute their opinions and suggestions. Also, when I asked Buckcherry to post a link to help raise money, they were kind enough to do so. Wow!
What I am planning to do is start a website. I want to offer a product for a low and reasonable price. I am still working on exactly what that is, so I do not want to go into detail, but it would involve using some of the skills that I do have, such as writing and editing. Then I would have things like quotes of the day, trivia questions of the day, maybe some contests dealing with those, and songs of the day. I would also want to showcase talented people, such as AC writers, musicians, and other artists. Twitter would be one of the places where I would find some of them, and Associated Content would be another, for example. There would also be a blog. I would either have a blog on the website, or I would have a blog that was associated with the website through a link. I could even put my own AC submissions on both.
What I am looking for is opinions. If you read this, please pass this along. I value the opinions of any and all people who are willing to offer them. The reason I want to do this? I am dealing with a nasty chronic illness, and it makes having a job outside the home very difficult since I also have a teenage daughter. My two little boys are both autistic, and there are times when I need to be available for meetings with their educators, therapists and doctors. I am looking for a job, but finding one that has the hours that I need and can be flexible concerning my sons' needs could be very difficult. If I can make a reasonable income from home, I will be able to be the mother my children deserve, the wife that my husband deserves and feel as if I am contributing to my household.
Since I have been a contributor to AC, I have found a wonderful community. I get a lot of feedback from very talented and intelligent people. When I was thinking of ways to get opinions while researching my idea for a website and a blog, it very quickly occurred to me to ask the contributors of Associated Content for advice. I would also like to thank everyone who has read my submissions, and especially the ones who have been kind enough to comment. I look forward to hearing from you.
