We all know that one purpose of asking question is to gain added information.Apart from getting information, there are other important matters too.Sometimes,we may want to show genuine respect by asking others for their opinions or thoughts, sometimes we may want to reemphasize a point we are attempting. It is better to make each question as efficient as possible than to ask a series of questions, in gaining information.
You should use as few questions as possible to get the information you need."Open-ended" questions should be used. "open-ended"questions encourage the responder to expand upon the answer thus giving much more information than a simple "yes" or "no". Also "open-ended" questions should be used for maximum efficiency. Often a series of questions in rapid-fire succession tends to sound like a "third-degree". One way to reduce this tendency is to supplement the questions with definite beneficial reasons as to why the questions are being asked and how his/her responses will be beneficial, things usually go a lot more smoothly.
When the same questions are asked from many people during a typical day - "ask every question as if it were asked for the first time".while asking questions and listening to the answers you should keep in mind that you have to be an active listener. If you don't listen to somebody actively, the speaker feels ignored, as your facial expressions will let him know everything.Questions should make sense at the time they are asked. Timing is very important.Improvement in this area may require increased awareness and sharper attention to what is being said. Not only asking questions is important, but while you are asking questions you should listen to the speaker effectively so as to maintain his/her confidence in communicating with you.
